During my stay in Melbourne.... I came down here for easter and I made a visit to nearby Box Hill oval to see Eastern Ranges play. Why? To see two potential father/sons in Travis Cloke (son of David)and Daniel Strachan (son of Greg).I only watched the first half, as did Greg Miller and an assistant.
Cloke: kicked 2 goals 3 points from full forward in the half. The goals were both set shots from 55 to 60 metres out. This boy can really roost them. The points were all set shots from 15 to 30 metres out, and not difficult at all. Get the picture? He moves okay in a straight line, yet not very agile.A reasonably good mark. I didn't see anything that made me go "wow", except for the big kicking. Enthusiastic and hard-working.Definitely has a "presence".Looks like a 3rd round pick would be worth giving up for him.
Strachan: got about 4 or 5 possessions (half-forward, plus had a go on the ball), but spent 15 mins on the bench. Neither tall enough, nor quick enough. Seems a good honest player, with a good attitude, but I can't see Miller giving up a 3rd round pick for him.
