FWIW- had a teacher quit here after like a week. I hope the Principal gave him the kick up the arse out- such a shit of a thing to do at the beginning of the school year.

Also if you left your job tomorrow how many people would care? Your friends you made will still catch up with you anyway and everyone else will just go about their business.

Yes it sounds like a prick of a thing but don't know the whole story. What if he got a educational Godfather offer, was stressed/burnt out or changed industries.

Especially bad if it were yr 12s but as above no one is irreplaceable. Another teacher can be found.

And i do get the fact it is different to business, disruptions etc etc but end of the day it is still a job.

Yeah actually that does sound pretty ****ing bad. (Would hopefully have a good reason/give notice) But end of the day you can't force someone to be there.

Even without knowing 99.99% would have gotten a better offer.

Yeah if they choose for you not to work out your 4 weeks, they need to pay. Ideal scenario for the employee really.

My brother was made redundant last week and finished up the same day, he got a very nice pay out and is very employable so it should just be a nice bonus for him.

It's alright. I start there on a 4 day week, work for 3 weeks, get married and the honeymoon for 3.5 weeks with a total of 4 weeks off.
