Really needs to get his body right, was one of our better players until injured.

Agreed, at least his injury was a "structural" problem in being his shoulder and not muscle problem like his OP. On a positive not it should give his body enough time to recover from any groin or OP injuries. My highlight for the year was watchin the bloke sing the song after the Freo win.....now thats passion for you!

Hasn't played a full season since 2005. In fact, he has only played 25 games out of a possible 68 since then, which is utterly disappointing. He will be 25 next season, so he needs to get his body right, otherwise he might be forced out of football. We know that he can play, even if he won't ever become a superstar. Will be a nice recruit if he gets fit next season.

He was really good on the weekend & I noticed a few things he did to show leadership on field also which is what we need.

Lets hope he stays fit.

I think he has been as good as anyone on our list so far this year.
He shows leadership and I honostly believe that if he stays fit he should be our next captain.

Bit worried about this injury he picked up on the weekend.

He has been in great form and a whole year injury-free would do such wonders for his confidence.

is one of the more reliable kicks in our team. Him and morton gave some quality ball to the CHF in the last few weeks.

Sorry boys i have been slack with the lad, i will get all the stats organised tomorrow and do a few reviews of his performances.

Great player he is...Didn't he come from Geelong?
He has really added a lot to your team and especially if he stays injury free might even win a B/F for you guys.

He had 10 clearances against the Bombers, and was one of the few in our team who can holkd his head high. He always puts in and tries to bring others into the game. His inside work has improved out of sight this year, and his leadership and passion is just about the best at the club now. Hopefully he gets through the whole year injury free, as he will give the Best & Fairest a fair shake the way he's going. Keep up the hard work Beamer!

Moloney one of Dees' best
By Matt Burgan 2:27 PM Wed 26 August, 2009

AFTER three injury-riddled years, Melbourne midfielder Brent Moloney will finish in the top three of the club's best-and-fairest, according to his coach Dean Bailey.

Moloney has missed just one match this season – in round 18 with a groin injury – which is a fine return considering he played just 25 from 2006-08 due to an ongoing battle with injury. Bailey acknowledged Moloney's return was one of the underrated stories of the season at Melbourne.

"He had three years of injuries really, with his OP (osteitis pubis). He hasn't missed a beat this year Beamer," he said.

"I reckon he will probably finish in our top three in the best and fairest and he has been consistent too. He doesn't miss much training, considering the last three years he's had.

"It is a really good story. Sometimes they're the stories that get missed, [because] you can concentrate so much on a young group and having young players to develop, but he's been really good."

Bailey also praised the return of defender Jared Rivers, who played just nine matches in 2007-08 after he too battled continual injury problems.

Rivers has missed just two matches in 2009 – one with an ankle problem (round eight) and another with a groin issue (round 19).

"Jared Rivers has missed the last couple of years through OP (osteitis pubis) and both of them have worked really hard in the gym to really get their core strength to a level where both have played consistent footy and played at a really good level for us as well," Bailey said.

"We hope we've patched them up for this year and we hope that it's the start of them almost having [an injury free run].

"Some people say: 'They've had two years off, so they're bodies have been refreshed'. But they're almost starting a career, to some degree, again."

Went head-to-head with Thompson and had 23 possessions to Thompsons 24, did a lot of good work in and around the packs. Didn't really stand out but then I hardly noticed Thompson either so he obviously did some good defensive work as well. Overall a pretty solid game for Beamer, plus the second best point of the round after about 6 bounces including a couple within about 3 steps :)

Played some really good footy in the early and middle part of the season. The Jamar\Moloney combo was a real weapon. He even got tagged for the first time in a long while. Got injured against Freo and wasn't a real influence when he came back. 7\10

melbournefc.com.au - Body the best it's been: Moloney

WHEN Brent Moloney says he is in the best nick of his football career, it’s worth noting.

It can be a cliché around this time of the year, when players say they are having their best pre-season, but in Moloney’s case - you listen.

The hard-at-it midfielder has had more than his share of injury frustrations in the middle to latter part of last decade.

But he has bounced back in the past two seasons, playing 39 of the past 44 matches in 2009-10 - a far cry from just 25 matches from 2006-08.

“I haven’t missed a session and I’ve been pulled out of a couple of drills - just to watch my load,” Moloney told melbournefc.com.au
