Sorry if this has been covered off before but....

Was at the game today, and got to thinking....if Mark Ricciuto was to play as a permanent full forward, his career will be extended significantly. He is excellent overhead, string in the one-on-ones and his leading is superb. He could be a seventy goal a year player I would think.

What do you think the likelyhood is?

Very high, it has been a stated plan of both himself and the coach for several years. Not necessarily this season, but within the next couple.

In that case, I see a couple of Coleman Medals being added to his trophy case.

I think Roo is likely to go back into the midfield once Welsh returns to the side.

However, I do agree that he is a genuine FF thats pretty hard to match up on. If you put a tall on him, he is generally more mobile and quicker and he is so strong that one on ones are not an issue.

If you put a medium on him he is generally much stronger and quick on the lead.

As just maybe said, moving Roo forward is a plan. I am not sure it was planned for this year but out of neccessity he has played out of FF. He could kick a lot of goals if left at FF for the entire season.

I love everything Roo touches. He has been a revelation at FF so far this year. He is sensational. Lets hope Sarah does the right thing and produces a boy in November. Now thats a father-son player I want at the Crows!!

He's just so versitile... I think he should play forward for the rest of the year. He is certainly adapting well. He's a champion.

Is that some sort of bathroom flooring?

Averaging 4 goals a game this season. Would have been even better if not for his shocking kicking against Freo. Could crack 70 easily at that rate if he plays every game for the rest of the season.

Where does Roo offer the most value, as an important midfielder in an already impressive outfit or as a 1st tier 60+ goal forward? I think Craigy will play him predominately as a forward from here on in with the occasional run in the midfield. It should also lengthen his career by about a year. Mind you, i'm not sure where Welsh fits into the picture with Roo playing forward. I would expect Craigy likes the option of playing 3 tall forwards, Trent, Kenny and Pez with Bode and Burton as the small/midsize players. So where does that leave Welsh?

A very handy rotational forward. ;)
It works in the mid field it can work in the forward lines. :thumbsu:

I dont really know if Roo is going to be fit enough to go back into the midfield any time soon, he only did five minutes there at the start of the roos match and looked pretty puffed. If he had played all the games, without his injury against freo, hed probably still be at the top of the coleman race. I say keep him down there. Welsh can always play as a forward pocket.

With the talent in the midfield that the Crows have, I would imagine that the luxury of Ricciuto at FF can be afforded. He is a proven regular goal kicker (even in the midfield) and there aren't to many clubs who have someone who can be relied upon for 3-4 goals week in week out.

I've been saying for years to play him at FF (rotating with Burton:p ) as Roo is in the Leigh Matthews or Gary Ablett class of player and the both took a similar path at a similar age and got another 5-6 years of football out of themselves.

Just wait until Roo really cuts it up one day soon and kicks 12, the media will be making the same comparison.

Haven't you heard? He's coming back to the Roos next year.Apparently he see's a vision forward for the team.

And is going to let Dean Laidley in on it.

What are you going to give us then?

Denial Wells or that top 5 draft pick you will be rewarded with by the AFL for your superb season. :D

Unfortunately Neil has indicated that when hes back to full fitness he'll be going back into the middle. Personally i'd like him to stay up forward even when welsh returns. Given we normally play three talls plus welsh that may not be possible. I think he adds much more to us up forward than in the middle where we are getting some good depth.

I agree jack , Roo's spot for me is in the forward line. His leading against the Roos was awesome
