What is going on with Hadley? Is he injured because if he is not then it is ridiculous that we can play a guy like Bentley and not pick Richard. He is a great inside mid and at the moment this is what we need in our team. There was a thread posted on the main board about Juddy's defensive pressure and while i agree with the op that Juddy can lack defence on his opponent, Hadley would be able to add that pressure we need along with Bentick(who is also not in the team why?). He is way better than Bentley, Russell(im not bagging him settle down) and Gartlett yet they get picked before him.

He wasn't too crash hot in his last games before he got dropped. Looked slow and disposal was sloppy but so is the whole sides now...

Haven't seen his VFL form but if it's all good then I wouldn't be against him coming in for Bentley...

He played a couple of really good games in rounds 1 and 2, but then, in his 50th (and last?) game vs Dons in round 3, this "gun inside" player barely gave a yelp as Watson smashed us at every clearance, feeding the Dons running game.

I haven't seen any Ants games, but from the reports I read he is playing o.k. at times, barely noticeable at others.

Would need to do a lot more to break into the side. Bentley has at least put up good VFL form consistently, despite the fact he is not doing well at senior level (did kick a nice goal though).

Bentick has had injuries all year and is only now starting to play well in the VFL. Would be a big effort to get into the seniors from where he is.....not sure if he has improved his kicking, but I could see Robinson playing ahead of both of these guys as he is hard at it, but gives run as well - future plans.

Somehow he fluked a premiership medal in his 4th senior game and has been dining out on that ever since.

Not blessed with pace, too often injured and will be 27 by next season - de-list.

I'd rather focus on developing potential 200 game players such as Robinson and Browne than reviving, for the umpteenth time, the career of 'Sir Richard'.

Very much at the crossroads IMO. Needs to make an impression with the Bullants, but I just think the game has passed him by. Unless he really picks up the quality of his disposals, clubs are just going to exploit his lack of leg speed week in, week out.

Right on the Money AZUL. too slow due to injuries, disposal average. Would prefer Robbo and or Ellard.BUt Mc thinks he is too small?

Must be better option than Bentley how this guy is getting a game is beyond me. If we are promoting players who clearly lack the skill to be Good AFL players. Then serious questions have to be asked. Johnson is another wasn't good enough to play at arguably the worst club talent wise, along with ourselves Pagan years. Then well we deserve what we get!

Shame about Hadley, early season form I thought he was going to be a permanant fixture in our side, due to his hardness and attack on the ball. I don't know whether he's still carrying an injury of not (He had a groin problem last year) but he is just not the same, even though he has played a few good games in the VFL..
I notice Bentick has now played about 3 games from injury, coming back via the bullants reserves, and getting into the best players for the Ants seniors last week against Bendigo Bombers. I like his hardness and attack on the ball. He is a good "inside player", and being only early 20's in age, should be perserrverved with and given another opportunity at senior level, if he continues to play well in the 2's?.

Agreed. Bentick at least deserves a shot to see if his disposal has improved. If this is the case then he could be a real asset given his tackling and contested ball skills outweigh that poor agility and lack of pace. Our mids are probably good enough now to take enough toll of his efforts in the contest.

Didn't have his best game on Saturday, but was still serviceable. But, was amongst the best for about 3 weeks prior

Bentick is just too limited. His work around the stoppages is limited but he offers nothing around the ground. Doesn't get into dangerous positions and when he does his disposal is lacking in accuracy and penetration.

Do you know what his contract details are? Do you think his time is up at Carlton? Should he be delisted? I personally think he should be kept on the list, as he has had injury problems this year, and is only relatively young and may still develop?

Oops, that should read: his work around the stoppages is good but he...

According to BB's thread his contract expires at the end of this year. At the moment he isn't good enough and I don't see where his improvement is going to come from.

He's not going to get any faster and while his decision making might improve (at 24 and 68 games experience, I doubt it) his disposal will always limit him.

I personally think he's right in the gun alongside Edwards, Hartlett, Bannister and Wiggins.

Hadley is close to being selected for Friday night's must win game against the Roos as is Nick Stevens, Mitch Robinson, Setanta O'hAilpin and Jeff Garlett

No, Hadley is a hack.

About as useful as **** on a bull....this post, not Hadley. Can we keep this sort of rhetoric out of it? Hadley was a classy footballer, but wasn't overly quick at the best of times, unfortunately injuries seem to have taken their toll and would think his best is behind him.

Hadley would have been a super player a few decades back when speed wasn't that much of an issue and when footballers were just plain tough.

Unfortunately for him the game has progressed a lot from then and speed is a necessity in this day and age. Slow footballers struggle to make an impact, plain and simple.

As Gilly said, Hadley was never fast by any stretch of the imagination, and a few serious injuries have made him even slower.

Noone should be questioning his ability because at his best he is a very good footballer but the game has passed him by and he will struggle.

I don't think we'll get rid of him at the end of this year but I'd suggest he has 1 final year to try and salvage his career or else he's on his way out.

I feel sorry for him because the fact is that he was a good footballer prior to his injuries, in fact he still is a good footballer, but the way which he plays and the way in which the game are heading seem to be diametrically opposed to one another.

Agreed.

I don't think we will keep both AB and Hadley on the list next year though.

If AB plays well in the Ants and pushes for a spot (lets face it, at his best he was offerring more than Bentley) Hadley might get squeezed.

With no absolute "spuds" on our list now there will be some interesting delistings at seasons end.

We know we have a better list when someone picks up a player we delist (Chris Bryan excluded).

Yep agree on both fronts (the **** and Hadley). Shame as in a couple of games last year, and the first two games this year he played his role perfectly. At or near his best he is just what we need, he's just not at or near his best often enough.

Hadley's a tough player but everyone keeps talking about how his
experience and good disposal will be the main benefit of including him in the side but I havn't seen him display either of those traits.

I never see him try and show some leadership and I think his disposal lets him down quite a bit especially by foot.

The only good thing about having him in the side is he wins his own ball, but what good is that if he is prone to turning it over?

Sure he has a few good games at VFL but under intense pressure at AFL level he gets found out. Sort of like Bentick.

IMO we need to use our second or third rounder on a hard at it inside midfielder with pace close to the likes of Lovett or Davey. Keep the first rounder for Panos or some other good key forward maybe Talia... I understand he's done some work with Kouta and Ang

Andrew Walker?

Although Walks played reasonably solid game for the Ants on the w/e he didn't do anything outstanding, he will probably play one more game in the 2's before making his senior return

Replace the word nice with lucky and I'm on board. Had the ball bounced straight it would have missed. Fortunately it did a Chinaman leg break and went through.

It's a real shame about Hadley, I reckon.

He could have been a real handy player for us, but he has had a shocking run with injuries which has seemingly damaged him pretty bad.

He looked really good in the pre-season games and the first couple of H&A games, but after that..... well I don't know what to say.

Maybe he's still being badly affected by his previous injuries in a way. Pace is one thing, but I'm certain his disposal by foot wasn't so wonky once upon a time.
