we know, he's played about 8 bloody good ones in a row, Yes, I admit, one swallow doesnt make a summer but at 22yo, that would reasonably suggest plenty of upside...certainly come along way from the 64kg whippet that walzed into Punt rd a few seasons back:thumbsu:

That's your opinion Bo (and Terry Wallace's)

Btw....it has nothing to do with age....it's about how long you have played and been exposed to the system...and he's been exposed a heck of a long time.
Most blokes are lucky to play the games he's played already.

The 8 games you are pulling out of your hat, might rank as being consistent to you. I'd don't believe it's 8, so there goes your consistency theory.

2 years, from right now.
He needs to be consistent from now till then.
Under a new Coach, (Rawlings & whoever) let's see.

Currently, he skies downhill. I don't buy it.

Mad4Monoros

Don't apologise. Its people like you who made him turn his season around. I'm not joking. He got smashed by the media/commentators/fans. No more rookie excuses. He deserved a kick in the pants and look where he is now. :thumbsu:
Oh Chrisjie, you are seriously deluded if you think a BigFooty poster is having an influence on a player.

i think im probably the only one in the footy world to think that Richard Tambling was still a good player. Always believed in him and i never thought he should be dropped.
Plenty of people have had faith in Tambling. Don't get sucked in by the negative posters. They just make more noise that's all.
http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews/tambling-lives-up-to-the-hype/2009/06/14/1244917932585.html

Short and sharp, but at least he's getting recognition from the journos. Connolly no less.
True, but he and Dan Silkstone (the previous day) both wrote that Tambling may have saved himself from the chop at the end of this season. Yeah, we get nearly 100 games into Tambling then give him away to another club so they can reap the benefits. Hmmm.

Here we go...
(G) We drafted Tambling over "Talls"......NEVER, EVER, FORGET THAT......WE DENIED OURSELVES A PLAYER IN THE SPINE FOR TAMBLING.....Tambling needs to get better....cause he ain't going to get any taller!!
Tambling's development has absolutely nothing to do with who we didn't take in that draft. You seem to think it's his fault that we didn't take Franklin.

Eh, since when did I write Tambling off? Been saying for ages he should be played in defense. Regardless the fact that I’m negative about our players most of the time doesn’t make me less of a supporter than you. I still want to see Tambling do this consistently for the rest of the season before I think the sun shines out of his arse.
Are you sure?

Tambling has improved somewhat each year that has gone on.

He copped a lot of criticism for not being a game breaker because much was expected from him due to him being drafted at number 4.

He has never really been a bad player, just a slow developer.
There are many of them in the league, and Tambling at 22, (or 23) is still a relatively young player, and will continue to improve as he has done each year.
Spot on juss. Tambling has improved each year of his career. He also showed last year that he plays much more naturally off the back flank and started to put together some good games then.

Some players walk in as almost ready made players, other takes a while to hit their straps. Goddard was considered a disappointment for many years after being taken at No.1 in 2002 and now is being touted as a Brownlow chance.

damn straight.

Supporting the club doesn't mean you have to unconditionally support all the personnel. Real supporters don't blindly follow, they scrutinise and expect higher standards. They care more about the jumper than who's wearing it this year.

Yeah ...

his 8 good games this year have been down the freefall slopes of Whistler in a side that is in such rare form that you or i could be being gifted 25 possessions such is the rich vein of form we are in :thumbsu:

LMAO

An Open Letter to all the delirious guys raving about Richard Tambling’s game against Brisbane (26th July, 2008)

What game were you guys at?

Do you constantly look for any glimmer of light on Tambling and ridiculously pump him up, blowing it out of all proportion.
The people I sat with and around me bagged Tambling for his lazy chasing, tackling and wandering unmanned around the ground. You guys that praise Tambling obviously watch Tambling and look for brilliance when it isn’t there. Why do the TV GUYS AND YOU blind supporters who sit there like brain-washed lemmings rave over this guy who turns the ball over more times than any Richmond player?
Cut the school boys fan club hysteria. Tambling does one thing and you praise him without judging his ENTIRE match.
TAMBLING HAS PLAYED 70 GAMES. ONLY THE OVERHYPED TV PRESENTERS AND THE ‘OVER THE TOP’ SUPPORTERS WHO JUST LOVE TAMBLING FOR NO VALID REASON SEE THINGS THAT JUST AREN’T THERE. READ THE TRUE FACTS OF TAMBLING’S GAME V THE LIONS.

(I started taking notes from Foxtel’s 12.30am Replay after 1st Tambling action below late in the 1st Quarter. Was also at Game)

*Time stamps are as close an approximation as possible.
1st Quarter (Time stamp unsure): Tambling poor kick into forward line marked by Brisbane player.
1st Q: 2.53 left. Wandering lost with other backman from boundary throw in. Nowhere near opponent.
1st Q: 2.47 left. Tambling lost near Brisbane Goal Square. Standing near Bradshaw who is already manned up!
2nd Q: 19.00 left. Tambling pretends to half tackle J.Brown who passes to other Brisbane player who goals. Tambling doesn’t go hard enough. Pathetic tackle effort.
2nd Q: 18.09 left. Tambling with no man in space in Brisbane Back Line. Brisbane goal.
2nd Q: 17.02 left. Tambling turns ball over.
2nd Q: 16.29 left. Tambling turns ball over. Gets soft free kick.
2nd Q: 15.51 left. Tambling out of position at boundary throw in.

2nd Q: 13.46 left. Tambling blindly bombs into forward line. Ball rebounds.
2nd Q: 13.02 left. Lucky hospital handball over pack to Richmond player.
2nd Q: 11.00 left. Tackles man. Ball spills free in centre.
2nd Q: 10.01 left. Lost with no man between Centre and CHF. Loose or unaccountable?
2nd Q: 8.32 left. Tambling’s man marks running to boundary. Player given too much space.
2nd Q: 5.15 left. Marks 50m in Back Line. Kicks towards boundary line. Does not hit RFC player waiting.
2nd Q: 2.17 left. Tries to pick up ball. Misses. Tries again. Ball spills free.
2nd Q: 1.00 left. Stands around pack. Ball shoots from pack through hands. Misses ball.
2nd Q: 0.26 left. Handball laterally across CHB.
3rd Q: 19.45 left. Runs back into trouble. Bad Hand Ball – Turnover. J.Brown has shot for goal.
3rd Q: 18.25 left. Lets opponent in front of him mark. No pressure applied.
3rd Q: 18.06 left. Half effort at marking from kick out. Arms up wildly. Couldn’t mark from this body position.
3rd Q: 16.05 left. Tambling’s opponent gives handball to Black for Brisbane goal.
3rd Q: 13.25 left. Tambling handballs to teammate too close and under too much pressure. Ball spills free.
3rd Q: 13.13 left. Tambling caught with ball. Ball spills free.
3rd Q: 12.25 left. Tambling’s man marks in Brisbane Forward Line. Brisbane Goal.
3rd Q: 10.37 left. Tambling marks in front of J.Brown because Brown mistimed the ball. Ball drops short into Tambling’s lap.
3rd Q: 9.00 left. Tambling receives ball from throw in and gets caught with ball.
3rd Q: 8.37 left. Tambling kick.
3rd Q: 7.29 left. Tambling runs behind pack as Travis Johnstone (Bris) kicks goal.

3rd Q: 6.21 left. Tambling spoils handball. Kicks upfield.
3rd Q: 5.14 left. Tambling lets 2 Brisbane players handball around and over him. Ball goes downfield for Brisbane shot.
3rd Q: 2.34 left. Tambling kicks to Lids.
3rd Q: 1.17 left. Tambling runs up wing, beats 1 player and wastefully bombs.
3rd Q: 0.40 left. Tambling kicks to Brown. Brown goals.
(At this stage Robert Walls remarks how he is impressed with Tambling, based on 2 kicks in a minute. You’ve got to be joking, ha!!........Then Walls said Tambling has been in the system long enough. Covers himself)
4th Q: 18.40 left. Tambling loose with no man near Boundary Line. Throw In. Brisbane takes it inside 50m.
4th Q: 18.03 left. Marks then poor kick to Schulz near Boundary Line.
4th Q: 16.56 left. Handballs across hole in Back Line sideways.
4th Q: 15.30 left. Bombs ball into Forward Line. Ball hits ground.
4th Q: 10.50 left. Handball to teammate.
4th Q: 5.20 left. Poor chase from our Forward Line. Just ran with pack. No pace used.
TIME ON: 29.00. Tambling caught. Holding The Ball. Vital Turnover. Ball goes into Brisbane’s Forward Line.
TIME ON: 31.17. White Sets up Tambling. Tambling kicks to Bowden.
TIME ON: 32.06. Tambling half tackles Travis Johnstone who kicks Brisbane upfield. Lucky Siren goes soon after.

At one stage during the replay, one of the commentators mentioned that while Tambling at that stage had 26 possessions, he also had 10 handball receives. Watching the replay I may have missed some possessions early as I started to note Tambling’s on field play after viewing the ‘over-the-top’ praise for Tambling here, which matched the pumped up rubbish Walls and Hudson came up with on the TV. Again, I was at the game, and the reality didn’t match the commentary. These TV commentators are trying so hard to make out that Tambling is a shining light, excitement machine, when in fact he is an average player whose few deeds on field are blown out of proportion.
What he did tonight, should be expected as a minimum of player of 70 games.
I believe from the TV that Tambling coverage won a prize tonight. I bet any who actually went would not have put Tambling in the top 3. You couldn’t have. There were better players tonight than Tambling. Tambling turns over the ball too much. Is constantly loose and wandering, is slack and is more a receiver than McMahon or White. I’m tired of people here and on TV giving guys votes for a whole game based on 1 or 2 incidents. For Example, Tambling’s mark in front of Brown (Explained in my timeline notes) and his last pass to Bowden (Again explained above….the praise should go to both Bowden and possibly White, not Tambling)

Next time, can we please judge a player’s game on what they do, and not on what you want to see, or want them to be. And don’t listen to lying stats and TV commentators who pump up the game, turning average players into Champions.

LMAO Brilliant post IDDY.
As I recall Tambling received BOG honours that day along with Bowden.
How is it that 99.9999% of the football watching public thought he played a great game that day ..... Yet we are all wrong and Delib was the only one that managed to see his game for the fraud that it really was.

How much of a life must Delib really have to produce that sort of tripe!!!

One must wonder ...

Tambling is playing well, but don't suck his **** just yet. Sheesh this is the problem with you lot, you grab onto anything that looks half decent, put 2 and 2 together and when -56 comes out you come out with bemusment, which turns to anger, and then the new batch of pre-season delusion covers it all up again.

Let Tambling show this sort of form for at least 1 and a half more seasons and then suck to your tonsils are content.

oh i agree ... totally .

but i also won`t sit here and maintain the rage on the guy based on the slow first three years of his career . OH he`s shit ... he`s no good ... Blah . Blah . Blah

Face value

His last 12 months of footy has been more than reasonable given the circumstances . Has played some good footy . That is fact and can`t be argued.

Lot more work to do for sure ... but he aint Robinson Crusoe

Truly a rose coloured glasses wearer. :thumbsu:
Funny how your mates all come out out in support. The 'Premature Justification' Club. Ignore a tall, draft a midget....the team is full of short people!!
When Iddyot backs you up, you know your on a loser. That's all the support you'll need. Whahahahaha

Tambling and Bowden...LMFAO....enough said T67.
You just encapsulated 2 flaws in Richmond going forward. DOWNHILL AND SKIER.

Perceived Stats for T67: 99.999% of Europe also though Adolf was just interested in making Germany a better place to live.

67% of the football watching public know Tiger67 isn't all there.

Putting 'whahahahaha' and 'lmfao' in your post aren't really effective counterarguments - I suppose they are more effective than just insulting the other poster, though.

They are fun. I'll use them when I want. The argument is still there.
Don't put 'ff' in your name. Same reason.
Who cares. Get lost.
Picky little git.

Some Myths and stats for the deliberate goose;)

Todays HUN

"MYTH 1: Joel Bowden is a liability who should have been shipped off to Coburg long before Jade’s blade came down.

Metres gained is considered a bullet-proof judge of how a player is travelling.
When Bowden was dropped after Round 11, he was No. 2 in the league, gaining 5590m for Richmond. Only St Kilda’s Leigh Montagna, the Brownlow Medal bolter, led him.
Bowden was in prime company in the top 10 - other players to have gained more than 5000m included Dane Swan, Lindsay Gilbee, Rhyce Shaw, Josh Drummond, Chris Judd and Nick Dal Santo.
When sent back to the VFL, Bowden had amassed 34 long kicks - No. 2 at Richmond.
Bowden has also had 30 running bounces at AFL level this season.
So much for the perception the veteran thrives on short chip kicks, often sideways and backwards, to rack up SuperCoach points without inflicting pain on his opponents."

How can this be.... It must be a conspiracy.... Or maybe another HUN fabricated story.....

OR

Maybe Bowdens contribution has been underestimated by many on this board
That wouldn't happen would it?????????????

Unfortunately Bazzar this will no doubt be twisted and regurgitated by the negative nellies on this board and Bowden will be bent over with the unlubricated broom handle again.
