I thought it was pretty poor from Trent myself.

I agree. I actually didn't agree with the 17 for Captain tradition. But I think that if the club has a tradition then players should follow it. So at the time I believe Trent put himself above RFC when he chose to keep 9. And it's probably the only time he has ever done that. I still love him to bits though.

But it is all in the past now and I'm loving the fact that Rioli will wear 17.

I have no problem with him accepting it, I have a problem with the club offering it to him in the first place.
They should have told him it was there waiting for him once he earned it from hard work at training and holding his spot in the side... just like everyone else.

The notion of earning it is such a load of bullshit. They should be training hard and playing well for the sash on the front not the number on the back.
