Richmond has informed Steven Morris, Todd Elton and Taylor Hunt they will not be offered contracts beyond 2017.

Morris arrived at Tigerland in 2011 and has played 87 senior matches for the yellow and black.

The 28-year-old played an integral role for the VFL Tigers this year and has committed to Craig McRae’s side for 2018.

Elton, 24, was recruited to Richmond in the 2011 AFL National Draft and went on to play 11 senior matches.

Hunt has played 105 career AFL matches – joining the Tigers at the end of 2014 after six-years at Geelong.

Richmond general manager – football talent, Dan Richardson, thanked Morris, Elton and Hunt.

“On behalf of everyone at Richmond, I would like to thank Todd and Taylor for their contribution to the Club,” Richardson said.

“We are delighted Steve will return for the VFL Tigers in 2018 and also thank him for his service as an AFL player.

“We wish them and their families all the very best for the future.”

Veteran Tiger Ivan Maric called time on his career earlier this season, but will remain at the Club in a player development position and as ruck coach.

In other list news, Richmond rookies Jason Castagna and Ivan Soldo have been elevated to the Club’s primary list.

Mabior Chol, Callum Moore and Tyson Stengle have been retained on the rookie list.

“We saw plenty of excitement from our rookie-listed players this year and we look forward to watching them further improve in 2018,” Richardson said.

Some really good list changes there. Amazing what a great year can make a club look like.

Agree its great Maric is staying at the club in a development/coaching perspective.

Thanks Steve, Taylor and Todd. Good to see Morris commit to VFL squad.

Morris is still one of my favourites, dude gave everything for the jumper when he got chance, not his fault the below the knees rule change ****ed up a lot of his pressure as he couldn't just dive around the field like an animal. His goal against Hawthorn should always be remembered because it was baller against those ****ing Hawks

Hunt also tried hard but never had the skill, he ran all day and if he was just a bit silkier might have a spot in the prem team.

Elton was Elton I guess.

Morris has been a great servant of the club, and people forget he turned the corner and was in career best form in '16 before doing a ACL and unfortunate never able to regain it.

Thought Batch was getting the flick for some reason, glad he isn't.
It’s not the final list lodgement - could still happen depending on trades/draft

What does everyone think about going after Schache? Worth our pick 17 if we can keep it? I think he's a great future replacement for Jack if he can get up and going. Just not sure of his head space, but if he's happy in Victoria, with the clubs good culture now, he may shine.

sounds like a great acquisition

Sensible changes. Morris and Hunt both honest triers. Both tigers fans as kids who got to live out their dream of playing with the tigs and while not in the team were at the club when we won a premiership so got to feel part of it. Morris staying in the VFL team is fantastic also. Elton just not quite up to it and doesn't really fit our plans going forward. Best of luck for the future of these three blokes.

Our list is looking very strong now. From when Dimma took the reigns to now is just amazing the difference. Wow.

Ivan as ruck coach to teach Shaun Grigg, Premiership Player how to dominate as second ruck next year. Awesome.

Not surprised but we are running out of goats to scape!

Now we’ve won a flag we’ve got nothing left to complain about. Although some posters are arguing about their righteousness pre us winning the flag. Nice to live in the past lol

Tiges said yesterday they have no interest in him

Was that before Brisbane came out today and said they are open to trading him for the right price?

Regardless of what Richmond says in the media, given we need another tall in the forward line, I'd be annoyed if we didn't ask the question again.

Whether we ever know any further in public about that discussion is another matter though.
