Who should / will get promoted and who will be delisted.

IMO Clayton Collard should be elevated from what i've seen.

What are your thoughts?

Elevated - NONE

Retained - Collard

Unsure - Sylvester

Delist - Cartledge & Howat.

Pretty clear cut except for Sylvester. Was one of the best VFL defenders before breaking his hand so worth holding onto for another year for a shot if needed.

Who exactly are our rookies?

Who exactly are our rookies?

failtacular

Howat - DELIST. Not up to AFL level and doesn't look close, had chance in 07 and also this year. He didn't take those chances.
Collard - RETAIN. Come home with a wet sail in the 2nd half of the VFL season. Showed some real flashes of brilliance but also had flashes of the "connors" about him. With a big preseason he should get a NAB cup game then I don't know what the world is coming to.
Sylvester - HMMM. Sylvester could be one of the better rookies we've taken under our wing, but then again something tells me it's backman overload. Too much to consider, although I'll lean towards retain, just because of the hand injury and why not? lol I need a panadol and a nap.
Cartledge - DELIST. Why elevate a ruckman for 2 games, when you could've elevated Gus and not payed the $38k???? I think he was a back-up in case injury beset us. That hasn't happened and it's just highlighted Tristan as dead wood. To those that say he's a better player than Gus, coolios but Cartledge has released his potential and Gus hasn't.

**** not only were you wrong but you are wrong correcting your wrongness. Myers plays for Essendon. Meyer plays for Richmond.

Delist: Howat, Sylvester
Re rookie: Collard, Cartledge

Hopefully next year we can nget more than 4 rookies.

Don't think we can while Richo and Bowden are on the veterans list.
Think its a mix of vets and rookies that are outside main player list.

After watching Graham on Saturday - to be delisted.

Unsure on Cartledge but at least he can mark. Graham cannot

In a real world both not good enough but we need to top up our ruck brigade before we delist one or both.

Howat not good enough.

Unsure on Collard - looks lazy although has ability

Slyvester to be delisted

WE need to rookie young untried guys.

Our 4 rookies this year were older.

SO after watching Graham for one game you have made up your mind. Flawless.

If Collard truely is lazy then he should be cut. He has already been sacked by one club and if that wasn't a big enough kick up the bum then hard to see what would be. If he is lazy, all the talent in the world aint gunna make him a player.

If, on the other hand, he arrived with a very low fitness base (which I think he did) and has been working hard behind the scenes (which I have no idea one way or the other), that's different altogether. If this is the case it will take another preseason or two to start showing the benefits, but would be worth persisting with him.

Phoenix

I have seen all Coburg home games and some away games.

Graham season which started late because of injury was disappointing.

Saturday was the icing on the cake. About 3-4 times he should have marked while in the forward on much smaller opponents and in front of Richmond current brain trusts in Wallace and Royal

If we trade for Griffen or Warnock or grab Vickery in draft then he and Cartledge are not required.

I agree that we must keep one if we do not grab a ruckman from somewhere

Don't like to be picky but if you list as a Geelong supporter...where do you get off using "we"? Sorry Kemo Sabe but you are a paleface!

Retain Collard.

Get rid of the rest. Howat has no hope of making it back into the team, Cartledge just isnt up to AFL standards and Sylvester wont get a game in front of Moore, Thursfield, McGuane and Rance.

I would certainly retain Collard and consider elevating him.
If his development continues after a big pre-season I would prefer to have him available for selection without having to get someone else on the LTI list.

Howat is gawn...
Sylvester would only get a run if we have a tragic run of injuries to our backline so also gawn...

Cartledge only has insurance value IMO so maybe re-rookie.
Unless we somehow bolster our rucks through some unlikely trade or draft, Simmo, Patto & Gus will have to go around again. (Will Putt ruck or be a CHF type?)

Retain Collard.

Can Howat and Silvestor.

Not sure about Cartledge, is he or Gus a better ruck prospect? Personally I'd probably punt Cartledge as well.

interesting that this year we used the rookie list largely as an insurance policy with an mature aged key back and ruck option to cover us in event of injuries. A safe BET although it fails to offer a further pool of emerging talent that we have done better than most with. I would keep CC , maybe Cartledge and axe the rest...next year once again go for untried talents
