Just talked about on AFL radio. Has told the club he is happy to leave if a trade is there.

What got me was they were talking about getting a pick between 30-50 for him. IMO we are better off keeping him if thats all we can get.

What do you guys think would be a fare price for Laddo?

Ladson + 19 for GC's pick 15?

Ladson + goo for gc's 2nd rounder?

We wouldn't get much for him. The above is wishful thinking.

I'd be sorry to see him go but if it happened, then a straight swap for Paul Bevan would be good.

I would reckon even a pick around 50 would be ok. You can often find a gem if the recruiters have done their homework and with some luck. The more picks, the more chance of grabbing a talented kid who can make his mark.

It's a bit of a lottery but clubs have often unearthed top players in second, third and fourth round picks...even rookie picks - picks that end up being rated as top ten later on...

GC's pick 15 seems to be linked to the Brennan / Josh Fraser trade.

I'd be happy to let Ladson go and a third rounder seems about right.

A pick between 30-50 is 2nd rnd to early 3rd rnd pick... yup, id take that for Laddo and think thats about right for us. If he wants to leave for a fresh start- its in both parties interest to perhaps secure this... lets say we got pick 40 for him for arguments sake- that can either go towards helping secure a younger, better player eg josh hill... or we can draft a kid- and anything in the first 4 rounds of this draft is worth a serious look at. that would be a pretty even win.

** i think you would find that laddo could find himself a new home- perhaps up north, or in wa- areas that are screaming for serviceable backmen who are elite kicks.**

laddo is a premiership player so he certainly has some value (although others here think not)...laddo has been more than serviceable for the hawks imo...but...if he wants to go then i like the idea of a swap for bevan

See Ben Stratton which strengthens your statement too.

Yeah, well said.

It's maybe a reflection on society, or moreso footy these days, that we can be pretty disparaging to blokes like Ladson who have done the hard yards for the club, experiencing the darkest of days before building to the brightest.

I'm under no illusion that he's had nothing but a horror two years - the first with injury and the second struggling to come to terms with the shock passing of his father but I still think he has some good footy in front of him.

Good luck to him whichever way it pans out, probably a good reflection on him as a clubman that he is happy to look at other opportunities but also more than happy to stay.

Ladson's disposal is elite (cue replay of the dying moments of the 2007 elimination final vs Adelaide) and I love his no-frills attitude.

Freo want a premiership player for Tarrant, so how about Ladson?

What about Ladson for Thornton? If nothing else would be handy depth for both clubs.

Erm...scratch that. Just saw that you guys are sending Schoenmakers instead.

Carry on.

Then you woke up with your hand on it

Hate to agree with a Blues fan, but that is the rumour "News coming in, a trade will occur between Carlton and Hawthorn, the hawks will receive blues full back Bret Thornton in exchange for either Rick Ladson or Ryan Shoenmakers, its expected 2 be ryan shoenmakers so i would be a very happy hawks man if that deal occurs, but is definite that bret thornton is coming to the hawks in exchange for ladson or shoenmakers"

Why would we be considering trading a young early draft pick for a guy at the end of his career? Madness!!

Laddo's goal in the 2008 GF was fist pumping celebration at it's best. If he can help us get an earlier pick I will remember him favourably for that as well.:)

haha fox sports definitely happy to print all trade rumors somehow they let this one to go up.

Trade murmur: From Paddy on the email: Essendon Trade News - Bachour Houli has agreed to go to Richmond, Cale Hooker to Hawthorn.

Wouldn't mind that, could their be any merit to it?? That's the question.

If the club trades Shoenmakers for Thornton, I'm going to go straight out to Waverley and burn the grandstand down. That is sheer lunacy.
