Fremantle put a three-year offer to Essendon wingman Ricky Dyson but had not settled on the terms of a trade with the Dons last night. The Dockers also were considering the option of taking Kepler Bradley from Windy Hill, if not for a late pick, then through the pre-season draft.
It is believed that Essendon wants Fremantle's second-round pick 24 for Dyson for the deal to proceed. The Dockers have in mind a fourth-round pick for the 22-year-old or the option of getting Dyson and Bradley in exchange for pick 40.

I thought Dyson was a young quick midfielder, if we're only giving up a 3rd rounder or less, what's the problem? These are the sort of trades that can be very positive for us. I don't know what all the "please don't be true" is all about. I think a lot of posters are gun shy after last year, but again we're talking about a 3rd round pick. It's no great loss

Would be a steal. If we do that though we have to make room on the list, which means that the Murphy+Duffield package deal will have to be done. If we pick up 2 guys with out trading any out our list management is rooted.

3 year deal for a guy that can't crack regular a spot in Essendon's midfield which has similar deficencies to ours? Must be a reason he doesn't get a run. May work out but I'd rather we didn't pick up any more Essendon castoffs, Solly has been good but it won't work regularly.

Personally, I'm hoping we can't agree a deal.

Ricky Dyson and Kepler Bradley for Pick 40. Laughing. Absolutely laughing. Those boys haven't reached any sought of heights yet but very valuable additions to the squad, adds heaps of depth for basically nothing.

Dyson is meant to be fast, with a long accurate kick - all qualities we need. Makes Walker redundant and gives us a solid depth player until he cements a place in the 22.

Kepler lacks confidence and will never be a Pav but the kid still has potential at 199 cm and leading goal kicker and fairest and best winner in VFL. Would help to offset the loss of Murph if the Spud is offloaded and adds another back up ruckmen. He also used to play off the wing in the wafl - and I thought Gilmore was a tall midfielder!

I hope this goes through!

Especially now that Hadley is firmly linked to Carlton.

bradley for Dyson for just pick 40 is a pretty good deal, something worth considering. We're getting good value from this one, unlike many others where we are constantly screwed over.

According to pro stats Duff is better with a ranking of nearly 5 % better in 2007.

Essendon wanting pick 24 for Dyson and the fans saying he's carp and should be delisted. I'd make the comparison of Freo wanting to trade Walker for Pick 24. No-one in their right mind would do that deal. OK, so Walker is way older, but it looks to me like someone at Essendon is thinking "Let's trade with Freo, they are always shite in trade week".

Not sure why he would do that if we were offering him 3 years though.

Interesting one isn't it.

If you believe reports, you rate him highly enough to offer him three years, but then not high enough offer more than pick 40.

Seems a little contradictory.
Harvs has obviously learnt something from Sheeds when it comes to trade week.

Pick 40 for Bradley and Dyson is a steal.
If that's the best we can do, I hope the club lets them both go for nothing.

Although it would get us back into the 3rd round of the draft, given we're committed to Daniher.

It could all be dependant on whether we need to give away a pick for Brennan.

As if they would trade both for pick 40? They would be insane to do that. I don't remember much of Dyson from the few Essendon games he has played, but I think Dyson for pick 40 would be fair. Kepler can go out on bin night.

Apparently what Dyson's Manager had actually said was that Dyson was likely to sign a 1 year deal after the draft.
