Looking forward to a fit and firing petterd next year. We all know the potential he has got.

I have high hopes for Petterd.

I think he's one of the missing links at the moment. He's got the polish Nathan Jones, Brock McLean & James McDonald dont. Has excellent work ethic and alot of footy smarts. A good pre-season and he could become part of our midfield setup for '09 and beyond.

Round: Five (v Adelaide)
Stats:18 disposals (11 kicks, 7 hbs), 83 % efficiency, 9 marks, 0 tackles, 71 SC points.
My Thoughts: Only saw glimpses of the game on TV but seemed like he did OK. Has buckets of courage but the one alarming stat is he failed to lay a tackle all game. Not good enough. He is a mix of inside/outside player, so I think Ricky should be able to lay one tackle per quarter (he just needs to watch his captain if he's uncertain as to what needs to be done).
Like Miller in the Daniher years, I don't think it helps being thrown from the forward line to back line regularly and for what it's worth, I prefer him on the HBF.
Rating/10: 6.5
Does he keep his spot?: Yes

I like the look of Pettard up the ground i think sometimes he is stuck in the forward 50 for way to long and he isnt in the game enough.

Round: Six (v Geelong)
Stats:18 disposals (11 kicks, 7 hbs), 8 marks, 1 tackle, 1 goal.
My Thoughts: Amazingly, Petterd had almost identical stats to his game v the Crows - same amount of kicks, handballs and one less mark and one less tackle. The tackling issue is a strange one for me - for a bloke with so much courage, he should be trying to crunch blokes when he gets the chance. Still, for Ricky, another promising performance against a quality side. I think this kid will really turn it on when our team as a whole starts to develop.

ROUND 3 v ADELAIDE (MCG)
Rating: 4
Kicks: 5
Handballs: 3
Marks: 4
Tackles: 4

Goals: 0
Behinds: 0
Free Kicks: 0

Efficiency: 75%
Contested possessions: 2
Uncontested Possessions: 6
Clearances: 0
Clangers: 2
Assists:
0
SC Score: 41

Pros:
Tried his heart out despite the fact he was having a dog of a day
Cons:
His output was way down on last week.
Windy conditions made it tough for all forwards, especially when he had to contend with quality backmen.
He will always find it tough when he has the oppositions best backman on him.
Does he keep his spot?
:thumbsu:
Despite the fact he was extremely quiet today, I still like the look of him the more I see him play. Despite being well down on last weeks game he still had a never say die attitude. I was going to make the call last week that he will kick 40-50 goals for the season and I still think he will.
Once Jurrah and Watts come back into the team he will no longer be our main focal point and won't have to contend with the pressure he does now. Next week against Richmond I feel he will be back to his best!

I've liked the looks of this kid for a couple of years now, very disapointed when he punctured his lungs but, to his credit got back into the side very well.

ROUND 4 v RICHMOND (MCG)
Rating: 7
Kicks: 9
Handballs: 7
Marks: 6
Tackles: 2

Goals: 2
Behinds: 1
Free Kicks: 2

Efficiency: 63%
Contested possessions: 6
Uncontested Possessions: 10
Clearances: 1
Clangers: 1
Assists: 2

SC Score: 103

Pros:
His desperation to keep the ball in play which resulted in Bates goal was senational.
Takes the best backmen every week and always puts in a good performance.
He never stopped giving his all
Cons:

When we win so easily it is hard to find many faults with our key forward. He should have kicked more goals maybe???

ROUND 5 v BRISBANE (MCG)
Rating:
7.5
Kicks: 6
Handballs: 8
Marks: 3
Tackles: 6

Goals: 2
Behinds: 1
Free Kicks: 1

Efficiency: 50%
Contested possessions: 10
Uncontested Possessions: 4
Clearances: 0
Clangers: 2
Assists: 1

SC Score: 105

Pros:
The boy that they call Ricky Bobby was taking big pack marks aswell as showing his class below his knees. He is fast becoming a real live wire down forward.
More contested possessions than uncontentested is a massive plus
Cons:
Maybe the fact he can go missing for spells of a game
Does he keep his spot: :thumbsu:
He needs a fair few bad games to be dropped at the moment

Redden Rockliff rich leunberger, who wouldn't to play for Melbourne oh wait Scully is going to GWS so you can include him on that list

Wtf is this garbage? This thread is for discussion of Ricky Petterd and Ricky Petterd only- take this elsewhere.

Ricky Bobby is Melbourne through and through. Loves the club, love the city, loves his teammates and loves the team's doctors who saved his life 2 years ago when he punctured his lung on the field. Will never leave unless pushed (which will also never happen).
