Very lopsided poll. If we are talking about their absolute best and you were playing a final, I'd go with Brown as he had a slightly more profound aura about him. It was a similar presence to what some of the greats had about them. Riewoldt beat you with his insane athletic ability. Just ran his opponents into the ground.
Both absolute champions of the modern era though.

Brown was best alongside Gary in 07
Riewoldt was the best alongside Gary in 09

Riewoldt was a champ in 2004 as well though, and it's a shame that Brown played half seasons in 05 and 06 when he was a young alpha Lion with a thick mane

If not for the injuries I'd go Riewoldt comfortably.

Did he really miss that many through bad injuries? Played 19 games or more in 11 out of 14 seasons and 11 out of 13 if you take out his debut year. Havent included this year yet.

Browns 2005 - 2009 was super. Would have gone very close to winning the Brownlow in 2006 before injury. Finished 11th or 12th from 10 games.

It's not simply about games missed. Riewodlt has played half his career with a bung knee and tore his hamstring off the bone. Both injuries can be career killer, especially for a hard running athletic CHF, but he's still smashed on through them. If he never had these setbacks the ceiling could have been even higher.

He was a poor set shot even at the peak of his career. I think that's a bigger factor in judging how good his career could have been than those injuries.

Less stress on the body = less fatigue = more accurate kicking.

Riewoldt was/is better and would have stretched the gap without injuries.

You're blaming a career of inaccurate set shot taking on fatigue and injures. Ok:rainbow:

64.6% vs 60.5%

Saying it is a factor you nonce, but there's barely anything in it anyway. The whole Riewoldt being a terrible kick is so overstated, he's around the same mark as the majority of CHF's.

Brown, better leader and mentally tougher who stood up in crunch moments time and again. Can't see him missing a goal from the goal square in a grand final like a certain Riewoldt...
