Is he leaving? I hadn't seen any mention of this? Is he retiring?
That is really sad. Have so much respect for Stewart, he absolutely changed the culture of Centrals with his decision to step down after losing the grand final. It was seen as a little emotional at the time because he had built a side that would be challenging for a while to come but he stuck his flag pole in the ground and said "near enough is just not good enough" and I believe that act was the catalyst in making Centrals such a powerhouse club.

His work with the Power and then with us has been exemplary, if there is a way we could get him to stay at the club for 5 hours a week on full time pay he'd be worth it, he will be missed.
He is, but he says he will still help the Crows a bit. "Not lost forever" is how he put it.

Maybe it isn't just the recruiters. Could be the way our coaching staff develop young players to bring out the best in them.
No stats to prove it but I have a hunch that the SANFL Crows teaching the young developing players the same team rules and strategies as the AFL Crows is hastening their development. Seems to me that the last couple of years the youngsters are developing more quickly.

Hi guys - sorry to intrude.

Just a bit of trivia first, I caught the same school bus as Riley (and his two sisters). His mum was my English teacher at Clare and his dad the then principal.

While I'm obviously not a crows supporter I'm glad you guys won - you deserved it. For Phil.

Back to Knight, I enjoyed watching him play Saturday night. Definitely a stand out and I'm stumped as to why he wasn't BOG or considered for it.

PS, I don't think he's a spud. Not when several players of my own club have been spuddish this year.

I agree with this. I think the AFC has good development people. Sloane and Talia showcase this well. If a player is willing to work hard (and has the talent) our system works well.

In the past, if you couldn't get regular games, it was possible to languish in the SANFL playing out of position. Now the development has been streamlined.

We need to stay away from the diabolical recruitment of the early 2000's though.

After last week where Riley dobbed in Dougie for having a day off to spend with his girlfriend and using the excuse of the surgery to do so, according to Riley, Dougie got him back on ABC this morning. Dougie had just gotten out of the ice bath and was due to head off to get a massage and the interviewers were talking about how nice that would be, he pointed out that the massages are not the relaxing ones and some blokes tend to not like them at all. He was then asked who is the worst? Who cries the most when getting a massage? he said Riley is the one who cries out the loudest and complains about the massages. :D

was great everything he did was clean and had purpose. His kick to Tex which lead to the Cameron goal was perfect.. Perfect flight and power.

Another steal by the recruiting team.
You're so right Crowbling. Just watched the Mr_Smooth work on his 'Something different from the elim final' thread and realised what a massive input Knight had into the Tex to Cameron goal!! He assisted Lairdy with the tackle on Dog (?Stringer), then received the handball under pressure from Lynch, played on steadily and kicked a well-weighted kick to Tex, who was already on the run. Tex is getting all the accolades but Riley Knight contributed enormously to that play.

Knight takes the game on and doesn't look for a safe option. He knows his own capability and is playing like a 30-gamer already.

It was the desire to run back hard to eventually help with the Laird tackle that was most impressive. He went past 6 of our guys and left them for dust in the chase.

Not to mention the backing back on the defensive 50 to almost mark that ball in the Dogs last foray forward. He was tunneled a little bit in that respect and possibly could have gotten a free there, but if pulling Charlie to ground from around the neck after the ball has left the vicinity or Sloane also being tackled high weren't paid, then no way was that going to be paid either...

Yes he was. He went back hard for that mark.

Could have been a free, but then so could the trip, the throw after Camerons tackle.... Was about 5-6 we missed in that last few minutes

This bloke will be one of the future GUN footballers of this competition.
The Crows are in a good place as far as list goes at present. So many of our players have come on in leaps and bounds in 2015. Our much-maligned (on here) coaches and list management people are getting it right and good on them.
Walsh, Campo, Woosha, etc have been, and still are, great for our club. I hope we retain the present coaching structure in the years ahead.
The elite standards mantra is bearing fruit as is the establishment of our 2nds.
We have outstanding footballers on every line. Our depth is such that a number of our players that are on the fringe of selection would walk into most AFL teams.
We are destined for a period of sustained success.

Do you mean Cameron? Murphy got a fine for the hit he did in that last quarter.
Pretty sure it was Thommo. He was pulled backwards to the ground while the ball was in dispute. Think the melee resulted in a ball up.
ps--memory is an unreliable thing and becomes more so with age. :$
