Well, I dont often post here, but this pathetic effort is one of the most embarrassing efforts ever put forward by and Eagles team that I can remember.

Before everyone starts bagging Carroll and Glass remember that our much vaunted midfield has been absolutely thrashed. At time of writing not one possession to Kerr, Judd........ST Kilda are a good young team but we are supposedly trying to reach 2nd spot, and make a run at the flag. This effort shows me that we are a long, long way from even being close to one of the top teams........

Well, I expect Woosh to really break some heads at half time - surely it could get any worse. I hope the boys at least show some heart in the 2nd half. I dont care if we lose any game, but if we play without heart and effort what is the point.

Hello Eagles, do you WANT to just drop into the finals again? If you keep playing like this you will do just that! Not many players can hold their heads high. Jones and braun are the first 2 to come to mind, and chicky in the second qtr, otherwise INSIPID. Midfield is woeful, backline is unbearable, forwards have no delivery and so have no chance. Anything that could go wrong is going wrong. We have a SEVERE over reliance on our midfield. Until we develop better backs and forwards we will go nowhere

Come on Eagles, show us 2003 MEANS something to you this half!

Is it just me, or is it that everytime the Eagles get applied a bit of pressure away from home the midfield falls apart, and then the rest of the field fall apart?

If they drop this one this badly, they don't deserve a top4 spot.

This peformance was horrible... catch up footy doesnt win games.. they said this week they were looking at slow starts.....THEY MUSNT HAVE LOOKED TOO F**KING HARD!!! 3 quarter was alrite for a few minutes there, but they shouldnt have let them score those two goals in those last few minutes that realy put the nail in the coffin... i think we can kiss a top for spot goodbye.. if we cop hiddings like we did today....a couple of rounds ago we were the highest scoring team in the comp... WHAT HAPPENED? That carlton game was the worst thing that ever happended for u..... WE could be gay and put it down to injuries but 3 guys are not the whole f**king side! Maybe the boys need a few really embarasiing performances to get their heads out of thier a**es... mite wake them up for the finals ( if they make it). Ive got tickets to next weeks game and they better bloody win...

That was absolutely painful! I haven't seen a performance this poor since 2001. I don't know what hurt more - another slow start (after putting so much emphasis on this during the week) or giving up after 3 quarter time (which killed our percentage)

Very hard to find those who wanted the footy more than their St Kilda opponent. I don't think we gave them enough respect and went in thinking it was going to be an easy win

Stuff the top 4, stuff the home finals, stuff the percentage. We didn't even look worthy of playing finals footy today... and that was the thing that hurt the most.

That was absolutely demoralising, especially with the Crows next week. Realistically we need to look and see if we're done for the year; the yo-yo performances we've put in over the last four weeks are not the sign of a team in form. Certainly not looking forward to voting in this game, mostly because I don't think anyone deserves votes (well Brauny and Jones perhaps).

That was absolute crap of the crappiest order. Twenty minutes is not a game.

Good to see something positive out of this game!!!

I agree we will struggle to beat Adelaide with an effort like that - the signs were there in the first half against the Hawks. It is very clear now to all other sides...

APPLY HARD PHYSICAL PRESSURE TO THE EAGLES AND THEY WILL WILT !

especially away from Subi. Geelong must be licking their lips...This is a terrible thing to realise as a supporter. Our so called hard nuts, ie Chick, Kerr, Read, Jako, Banfield were all very, very, very bad today. I am astounded that it was the same team that I saw at Subi last week (2nd half anyway).

At least some of the young guys tried. I thought Doogs showed a lot and Glass was pretty good considering the lack of pressure on the Saints ball coming into the fwd line. Cuz - well he really put in and tried to lift the team with some great efforts - unfortunately no one responded........... Rowan Jones was very good all day and certainly stepped up in Embley's absence.

Unfortunately it is now pretty clear we are just making up the numbers in the finals. Perhaps Woosh should play some more of the young guys to give them exposure to finals pressure?

My final whinge before I drown my sorrow in several dozen beers....scores from other games

- Hawks fighting to get into the 8 lose by 4 pts against the top team, Port. Good effort Hawks - I could handle that as a Hawks fan.
- Sydney fighting to stay in the top 4 and playing Adelaide at AAMI stadium fight hard to go down by only 4 points. Great effort away from home Swans.

- Eagles fighting(??) to get in the top 2, playing the Saints, a talented young team sitting well outside finals contention ABSOLUTELY CAPITULATE AND GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT (oh sorry with a fight for 15-20mins in the 3rd qtr).

Theres something in that for all of us...........

Brauny always seems to put in a good effort in the hard games. Doogs was one positive, he was looking good out there today and can only get better. I don't know what happened to Kerr or Judd out there today, but they could've not turned up and it would've had no effect on the game at all. I know they're both still young, and very talented, but they have to show their skills in the tough games, not just the ones where we are flying. Kerr has done alright in some tough games in the past (Sydney rings a bell), but he was asleep today.

Does anyone know if Gardy will be back next week? At least with him in we can have Doogs, Cox and Haynes in the forward line - and that gives us something. Despite this, injuries weren't to blame today. We played horrible for 3 and a half quarters and didn't deserve the 2nd spot we were trying to get.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! That game was so frustrating and painful to watch.

If we werent so ****ing full of ourselves we would have buried the saints, we were SUPPOSED to be a serious premiereship threat.

Premiereship my ass, just because we have a few injuries, doesn't give the rest of the team a reason to play like complete ****ing ****.

Don't let me get started on Braun..the guy runs all day, but his disposals are pathetic and every player in the AFL knows that if he lays a tackle on them it's simple to break.

As for Adkins...gutless, soft, can't tackle and has slow hands... I watched hin today to try to understand why some hold him in high esteem. He's not a young rookie, he's 22 and IMO will never be a reasonable AFL player..well I hope he proves me wrong.

Hopefully.........In the early nineties Mick used to take the foot off the accelerator in training from about rounds 14 to 18 then pump them hard for the finals. I hope taht is what Woosha is doing because they are not pumped at present.

Adkins was woeful today Today was his chance to stand up and he threw it back in our faces. Grr at Adkins, Give Callum a shot next week. Should stay on the list for next year though as he could make it still...but im losing faith in him i must admit...

We can't blame injuries - Embley, Fletcher and Gary wouln't have won us that game.

it's proved to me we are at least 1 year away.

Positives - Staker, McDougall showed that we have some young kpp players to do the job. I hope Lynch gets a game before the year is out.

BTW, McDougall is starting to show he may be the real player we have been looking for at CHF.

Was Woosha sick and KJ took over for the day? One of our worst performances under Woosha and I hope he really lets the players know. I think the players owe Woosha for this display.

The only positive to come from this game is the development of McDougall. Jak is definately on his last legs, should become a bench player and give McDougs the CHF role.

We took a huge step backwards today and I can not see us recovering to be a force in the finals.

Found out

I reckon we've been found out...

1) Pressure the midfield. I hate to say it but we are weak as in the midfield. A bit of pressure and our much vaunted midfield goes to water. Tags the hell out of us = win the clearances = no scoring punch = eagles loss

2) Play your Tall Fwds against us. Nothing new here - see what Tredrea, Lynch, lloyd, and now Gehrig do to us (addto that list WHitnall, Rocca, etc). Forget our problems with small fwds we are absolutely puss at holding key forwards - we a pushed off the ball, left on ourh heels off the mark and are completely devoid of ball flight reading ability. I won't name names because they get bagged enough.

3) Push marking players back into the Eagles forward 50. why do we deliver the ball into the 50 like we have a Carey in his prime down there who will mark everything that comes in there? Is Fido going to launch himself? Is Haynes? no. It's ridiculous that we bomb it into the pack for the likes of Reiwoldt to take uncontested grabs. Our blokes are great on the lead but no one can take a contested grab. Result is rebound after rebound and pressure on the backline (see 2.)

4) Passengers. Sorry but yesterday we had a ton. Woosha sort it out please. After being proud of our team's fighting qualities we were blown away in the 4th by a bottom 8 team. That's poor. We have come to expect better. Just give me a team that competes. It seems that with pressure we wilt and that is a bad sign of the team's character. Hate saying it but that's what I saw at the dome yesterday.

Lets hope (which is all we can do) for a turnaround next week against the Crows.
