Sad news has come through today of the passing of a club legend in Alice Wills.

For those who do not know of Alice, she worked at the club for many years and was a driving force in the cheer squad.

I have no doubt that the club will wear black arm bands for one of the nicest ladies you could ever meet, may you rest in peace Alice, you were always a proud and passionate Tiger lady!

Remember Alice from 30 odd years ago when I was a young cheer squad member. RIP Alice, hopefully the boys can win Friday night to honor her memory

Off wiki

"Alice Wills was the first female inductee to the Hall of Fame of the Richmond Football Club, an Australian rules football club.
Inducted into the Hall of Fame in its inaugural year, 2002, she was a founding member of the Richmond Ladies Committee (1950), the
Richmond Cheer Squad (1959) and the Richmond Supporters' Volunteer Group (1962).
In 1974 she opened the "Tiger Den" (supporters' store) and operated it until 1981.
She was made a life member of the Richmond Football Club in 1988."

Weren't we the first club ever to have a cheer squad?

You are correct there sir. And if memory serves me correctly, Alice was one of the founding members.

RIP... Remember chatting to her about memberships and also the cheer squad trip to Sydney in the early 90's

Story on the website. Now there's a supporter for you. Didn't know Alice but I'm sure she will be missed by many. Thoughts go out to family she has. Those who knew Alice please share any stories you have of her, Thanks in advance...

I sincerly hope the boys play with a lot of heart and fire on Friday night to honour Alice's memory and contribution to our club.

I don't care if we lose but after the weekend's display, nothing less than 100% effort will be acceptable.

Thank you for your contributions to our great club Alice. RIP.
