Unfortunately for him and us as music listeners it went off the rails just as he was hitting his peak as a songwriter.

His life is a very sad story but he left us some great music that stands the test of time.

The Beach Boys begin and 5 years later they released Pet Sounds and after that it's all very muddled but it's quite remarkable he was still talked about and respected more than most that came after him.

Will never forget spending weeks listening to the 2004 version of the Smile album , trying to work it all out and piece together everything that was happening in every song.

RIP

I wondered what that rumbling noise was, and why things fell off the mantelpiece. The fall of a titan is not such a good vibration. Wilson's harmonic language was on a par with Ellington and Stravinsky. Despite a troubled life he spoke to, and for, all of us who feel we just weren't made for these times. RIP Brian.

Absolute legend, a creative force that has shaped and influenced the Music Industry.

Loved the unique perspective that he brought to his craft, he was always a creative explorer, a master of the musical message and genius with the blended melody and harmonies that entertained us.

For me this Tom Petty quote probably sums up how I feel.

" I don't think you'd be out of line comparing him to Beethoven"

The quote nails it for me.

Very sad to hear of Brian's passing, my mum was a huge Beach Boys fan, so I grew up listening to them all the time and still love and listen to many of their songs today.

RIP Brian.

The Beach Boys were my first big concert and date back in 76. Brian was making a bit of a comeback and actually came out for a few songs. Still one of the better shows I've seen.
I also had the Endless Summer lp around that time. And even as a neophyte music listener Good Vibrations was amazing.
