A couple of weeks ago when I heard Sean Kelly was playing A Day on the Green this year, I said to my mum "Where's James Freud?". Her response was "He'd be dead by now, wouldn't he?". Eerily prophetic.

Even though I wasn't really around in his prime (I was born in 1988), I've read his books and enjoy his music. Really did piss it all away unfortunately.

Never actually met James, but loved his work with The Models in particular
I was given his book early through one of his mates. All made for a fun read if you wanted to take it that way.

Did smack finish him in the end as it sure as hell may have done so, many times over previously?
RIP James.

Although I was not a fan of his music when he was popular in the mid to late 80's, I do acknowledge and respect his contribution to popular music during that period .

Its just a real shame that he had finally sucumbed to his personal demon in the bottle, but I hope he finally finds comfort and peace, which was something he struggled with in this life..

I'm mates with his sons Jackson & Harrison, and really good pals with the bassist in their band ATTACK OF THE MANNEQUINS.

We were all just hangin' out on Monday night, this was just such a shock. I'm absolutely shattered for the guys, real tragedy.

Very well said, I share your sentiments.

Very sad, such a waste.

Rage have a James Freud tribute tonight. http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist/print/saturday_print.htm

Was a big fan of the Models from the Sean Kelly days, heard of James Freud through their association.

I had a read of his two books this week. They give some insight into his drinking and drug taking, and bring back a lot of memories for someone who grew up in Melbourne around the same time.

I know what you mean.

I ventured to a very early gig of theirs somewhere in a run down warehouse in town.
There may have been around 200 of us there, with no bar in sight except for a few beers being sold out of an esky.

I think that all of us there that night knew that this band had something special going for them.
They didn't see the bright lights they could have but boy they had a good run whilst things were hot.
