Luciano Pavarotti dead at 71
LUCIANO Pavarotti, one of the greatest tenors of his generation, has died at his home in Modena, his manager has told the Associated Press.

Despite never being a great opera fan, his voice still managed to amaze me. He brought Opera into the modern world and made it mainstream.

Just heard the news some 10 minutes ago... a very sad passing indeed.

Very few opera singers could send a shiver down my spine, but he could with that amazing voice.

Sad loss - so soon after he had that final Australian tour just a year or two ago. Didn't actively seek any of his music, but it's easy to recognise what a great voice he had.
