Unfortunately, today (and tonight) is showing where SA footy is at. Last week was just two very ordinary sides running around - don't think it will get better anytime soon.

Is it embarrassing for the football club and as supporters? not so much the loss (we all lose games) - but the way it happened, to lose from being 40 points ahead late in the 3rd, and then have so many errors and to be completely outplayed like they were in the last.

It's happened roughly twice a season for the past 4 years.

You won't find a Port supporter who wasn't quietly expecting this, let alone be surprised by it.

I don't 'want' us to fold. But for the first time, I feel like I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. Any crowd members above 15k we get for the rest of the year will be a bonus after that, and how are we going to get better if we don't have any money to get better with? It's a vicious cycle, and I want to say we're at rock bottom but every time I do we find a new way to get worse.

We must be at rock bottom now. To lose to GWS next year (not saying it will happen) would not be a backwards step after today. It's not that we lost but the manner in which it happened. To be 6 goals up at 3/4 time and to not show any spark or aptitude when it mattered most is soul destroying.

Surprised by PB's opening comments, because we should never fold being the most succesful club in AFL history, but where are the crowds/supporters going to come from after this. 119 is bad enough without adding fuel to the fire.

****ing livid is what we are currently feeling. So is the coach, so are the players. Will be interesting what transpires over the next month of games. All players should be on notice, including the coach. Mark Williams has a LOT to answer for. His dad built this empire, and now he has crushed it in a few short years.

Hang your head in shame Choco.

Port Adelaide may never be the same again.

That's what I said after the Richmond game last year. That's what I said after the West Coast game this year. That's what I would've said if today's game had been a close one the whole way through, rather than GC reeling in a 40 point deficit.

So the question needs to be when will we be at rock bottom? In my eyes it is now. Everyone will win the wooden spoon eventually, but to lose to easybeats (full respect to the opposition but what other title could you give them before today?) after in a seemingly cruisable position must surely do damage to the Port image and our potential to recruit new supporters.

The Cows will never let us or anyone else forget this dark day (to add to the other) and when you consider the reputation this club used to have, the question I want answered is how are we going to restore the feared and respected image this club held and continues to deserve?

Keep your heads up next week is another week. There was going to be one team to lose to the goldcoast if it wasnt you then it would be us the kangas or brisbane, its the luck of the draw and on the day. Some of your supporters are making your club look week you need to stay united and strong "you have the power to win and to never give in"

Exactly, my father in law (port supporter) asked me to put a $10 bet on the Gold Coast a couple of days ago and i told him i'd already put a $10er on myself.

I asked him why and he gave me the same response as I'd have given which was "Just because if this is going to happen, it will probably happen to us"... no other reason. I didn't want us to lose but "Sh*t happens"..... to us! :(

Yep, was talking with a fellow Port supporter at work on Wednesday.

"Surely we can't lose to GC? Surely!"

It was more pleading than a question.

The worst part is we didn't just lose. I could probably handle just losing, even though it would be a ****ing disgrace. But playing them at home, they've never won a game and they have an average losing margin of more than 90 points and we're 40 points ahead of them with a quarter and a bit to go?

Yes lets keep telling our supporters to go support other teams, thats how we will get out of debt :thumbsu:

For 13 years I tried to convince myself that I was one of the 'new generation' Power supporters. Took out membership, went down to Arctic Park more times than I care to remember and even made it to the Gee on that famous Saturday in September 2004. Looks like I have been deluding myself.

Events on and off the field since 2008 have been farcical, unbefitting of a club as proud and famous as Port Adelaide. Things may turn around as surely they cant get worse, however a massive cleanout of players, administration and coaching is required. Can't see that happening as the Power have failed to bite the bullet when it counts most.

So shoot me for failing to fully consumate this relationship and jumping ship. I admit I'm not Black and White (Silver and Teal) through and through and I wouldnt die in a ditch for any football club. However in this era of ubiquitous sports entertainment, one showdown victory is a pretty thin return for a punters dollar. Enough is enough.

If that's the case Rory then they're just barrackers not supporters to borrow the parlance of Bruce Weber.

You hang around long enough and you'll get the good and the bad. Glenelg won its first premiership against Port in 1934. You reckon we have it bad how about Woodville supporters. They copped it in the guts year in year out had five minutes of sunshine in the late eighties and then had their club ripped out from under them with the help of a guy who settled comfortably into crowtown. How would that feel in your guts?

Unfortunately it is an ordinary side at the moment. No amount of cussing and hair tearing and ground stomping is going to change that. It's an overrated group of players that tends to believe its own publicity.

We have suffered for many years under the Williams gameplan/drafting/selection policies and that can't be fixed overnight.

I felt physically ill leaving the ground today but you cop it you move on and you try to make it better.

Yeah, i'm pretty much done. It's like a woman that breaks your heart one too many times, the love is gone.

I dunno. I sit here 4 hrs later and i still dunno. I feel like the playing group, the coaching staff, none fo them bleed for the club like the supporters do. Just keep playing half arsed and getting paid.

Can't believe all the abuse the OP has received. Never has there been a more apt time to lay the boot into the club then today.

This loss is the most embarrassing loss I've ever seen in my lifetime of supporting PAFC.

so in other words your a bandwagoner who supported us when we were winning and then jumped ship back to Carlton when we started going bad.

I dont blame ya though

Many Port supporters like me dont have 2nd sides so we're stuck with following Port forever and ever. It sucks we know:(

Lay the boot in, yep:thumbsu:
Encouraging the club to fold = piss weak moron:thumbsdown:

Today really hurt, obviously. I'm not entirely sure how everybody else feels but even when we did get to that 40 point margin in the third quarter I still felt that we didn't have control of the game. A little handball that went astray and fell into the hands of Ablett gave them control. Those two late "red time" goals had all the Gold Coast boys fist pumping, it was staggering as they were still 5 goals behind. Their attitudes compared to ours going into the third quarter time told the story of what was to come.

Hartlett was good, but unusually (and last week too) his kicking has been poor which is unlike him normally, or at least the reputation he holds. Boak was rarely in the guts today (Wtf Primus), he was either stuck on the HFF or on a wing. NOT A FAN. Put this guy in the guts, I fully expect him to reach his potential, but the lads around him have to work harder. Chaplin was OK, but he dropped a couple of sitters, Carlile was incredibly poor. Surjan was OK too, but eh, can't really think of many others except for Motlop (He probably got a raw deal from the umps as Toy was all over him in many contests in Q4 but we shouldn't have been in that situation anyway)

I feel really bad for the club and my fellow supporters. 21,000, considering all the circumstances, was a very good turnout, and even though I will be at AAMI on Friday Night in two weeks, I am really concerned as to how many others will be back. After the game I was very, very angry, but everybody else looked lost and numb... Probably not caring about this club anymore. So I IMPLORE all Port Adelaide supporters that despite how shit these recent years have been, we need to stick by this great club so it doesn't go out with a whimper.

Predictions for next week seem to be us getting smashed, but **** let us show some resolve for once! A hard week on the track, and every single one of the 22, whoever they are, have to be 100% switched on and get ready to go for the ball at all ****ing costs. C'mon Port Adelaide!!

A few embarrassing losses?

Wait till you go 47 years without a flag, then you can complain.

It's never as bad as it seems.

It's not just a few embarrassing losses. It's 4 straight years of embarrassment.

At least with Melbourne you can see the improvement under Bailey.

Nothing has changed since 2007 and given Primus' first season begins this year, we have to put up with this for at least 2 more years after this without improvement seeing as the rest of choco's old mob somehow still resides in our box.
