Re: DVD to DivX

its a strange world this one

but just do what i do.

type in the thing you want with www in front and .com behind. it works remarkably well

in this case, perfectly. www.divx.com

edit

it costs money and

if you can't use it. delete yourself. it's the easiest software i've ever used

speaking of which, top gear starts today in the UK.

Re: DVD to DivX

I just got Auto Gordian knot and it does the job well. You also need DVD decrypter to get the dvd into a ifo file which you then open with auto gk which you can then choice what size you would like it to make it. both of these programs are free but it does take some time depending on cpu and ram to do the task. i did a dvd from 4.7gig to get it to a 700mg file and i have 4gig of ram with a q6600 @ 3ghz and it took me 1hour and 5min to do it.

Thanx Dylan:thumbsu:

So basically its not worth it for heaps of DVDs unless you dont realy have a life.

Re: DVD to DivX

you could just copy the DVDs to an external drive. 1TB drives are both plentiful and cheap and you can play the images off the HDD.
But if you copy the files directly from a dvd to a hard drive you get them in vob format and there are a lot of small files which all contain parts of the movie so it would be a pain to watch unless there is another way to do it

type copy DVD to HDD on google. see which one best fits your uses.

get PowerDVD or similar.
PowerDVD costs money but also works with ALL surround formats as well as upscaling DVDs to 1080p thru HDMI 1.3 and decoding Blu_ray.

you can setup a real digital, totally lossless library. 90DVDs on one 1TB drive. many more if you just copy the main feature and not all the ancillary stuff.

i use a program called "ImTOO MPEG Encoder" which needs a crack but converts many different file types to many others including the 1s needed for ipod
