Seen a market for this yrs rising star and Tom hawkins is the $4 favourite to take it out. Cant find link sorry...
Maybe this could not be the only thing we go back to back in this yr...;):D:cool:

Thoughts on his chances??

Yeah i seen it on www.sportsbet.com.au Hawkins is the favourite to win it @$4.00.

I have been thinking about putting some money on him seeing Nathan Ablett won't be playing this year.

I might wait the the odds get better though

Glad to see Ricky Petterd recognised as the second faveroute....people on bigfooty never seem to mention him when talking about the rising star...

Interesting to see Masten and Myers at $41.00 when draftees that were taken after them are paying less.....

From all accounts pretty well, he has been working pretty hard but Varcoe is probably ahead of him at the moment and has his spot-Get on Tom Hawkins as he is fitter and will play more often

Hawkins was also the favourite at the start of last season - really can't read too much into it.

As for Petterd - he has to break out of that 'noted for one bit of trivia' syndrome.

Djerrkura is the real value bet at Geelong

Actually, Petterd was pretty relevant last season before his publicised health issues came up. Would have finished top five for the Rising Star Award.

I'm not overly confident about any of our chances to claim back-to-back Rising Stars - Tomahawk's obviously our best bet, but consistency (a big factor in winning this thing) is one of the main issues that I think will surface with him. Of course, he could conceivably just completely blow past my expectations and begin ripping teams apart on a regular basis this year...

If I had to put any money on it though, I'd say there's a fair chance the '08 Rising Star will be a non-first year player (unless one of the new WCE boys in Masten or Ebert does a Selwood).

God forbid that:D

he has to be a bloody good chance.

if nath doesnt play then he will play 22 games (ebven if he does he will play most of them) and a kid with his talent must be odds on.

cotchin will be hard to beat though........

Or perhaps Selwood from WCE could do a .........Selwood.

Watch out for a young backman for Essendon named David Myers , heard a bit about this guy and he could be the one to suprise everyone in his first year . If the Hawk doesnt win the rising star this year my pick is this guy.
Put him in your supercoach team guys.
