There must be more to it than simply Geelong recruiters doing their job well. Development at Geelong has to be a critical part of all of it.He has been so much better at AFL level than VFL from what I saw.

They all talk about how good Nigel Lappin is in this space. I'm sure there are a lot of others, Brett Goodes works with the Indigenous boys. I reckon they keep the senior players that have a little bit left but could retire, like Touhy, Duncan, Stanley around to keep mentoring. There must be more to it than simply Geelong recruiters doing their job well. When I first saw Gryan Miers play footy, I never would've imagined he would've been developed into the footballer he is today. It's pretty impressive from the Cats to keep churning out quality players. They get the best out of guys, for some reason, somehow.
Along with Humphries and SDK (to a lesser degree Mullin), the defensive line rebuild is going superbly.
It's a very strong developing backline. Just missing a small fast lock down defender (Mullins?)Jack Henry (26)
Zach Guthrie (26)
Sam De Koning (24)
Lawson Humphries (22)
Connor O'Sullivan (19)
Always build from the back up. Definitely the one area of our team where the players have their best footy in front of them. 2 x keys capable of playing on the next gen 200+cm key forwards, moving forward Henry can be freed up to play that in between role that Kolo has done over the years, Zuth the general, Humphries the silky ball user. Just need to find your baby eating lock down small defender to complete the set.

Still waiting for his statue but he would absolutely hate it and realises it’s a good partnership between recruitment and development that has made it so successful over the yearsIWWT
Again
GO Catters
I prefer Mullin using his insane speed from HBF, like a new Wojo.

Shades of Harry Taylor in his marking and spoiling, but more explosive and agile.
We have a potential superstar on our hands.
Was beaten by Pickett but no shame in that as he is a very good player. Signs are good thoughMullin definitely starting to look the part the last couple of games. His upward trajectory is massive still, IMO. Could even be a mid in the future. Either way though, it's his role to lose now. 320+ minutes over 4 games, and only 4 goals conceded (0 against Pickett last night).

Pickett started at 13 CBs and Mullin started at 0. I'm not sure they spent much time on each other. Was beaten by Pickett but no shame in that as he is a very good player. Signs are good though

I thought Mullin was matched up on Pickett when he was pushed forward. 3 shorts on goal on reduced forwardline minutes - lucky he butchered the ball. Not sure who Mullin was playing on outside of that though and it was not something I was tracking closelyPickett started at 13 CBs and Mullin started at 0. Admittedly he wasn't under extreme pressure at any stage. But his disposal by foot looks very fluent as well, both in terms of accuracy and in weighting the ball to his teammate's advantage.Shades of Harry Taylor in his marking and spoiling, but more explosive and agile.

Wojo was one of my favourite players from that era for good reason. His run off half-back was at times breathtaking. He set up so many of our run-and-carry handball chains from 2007.I prefer Mullin using his insane speed from HBF, like a new Wojo.
A hybrid Harry Taylor / Alex Rance?Shades of Harry Taylor in his marking and spoiling, but more explosive and agile.
