very frustrating especially early. lots of deadwood to clear out. still dont understand playing two ruckman. positive is its our kids that are stepping up and looking good. cripps docherty byrne sumner plowman weitering charlie are the start of a bright future.

Next week........Jaksch in.

Out, 17 or 41.

Both have used up a month.
Gotta keep Casboult in, no way Jones can beat the best defender and certainly not as the only marking target. Get Cas some help, not replace him.

Positives for tonight:

- Plowman, Phillips, Lamb and Sumner were all solid.

- We can see the beginnings of a strong defense with Plowman and Weitering and Docherty.

- Cripps kept trying, love how competitive he is. Refuses to be kept down.
- Daisy, despite his critics was really good tonight.

- Charlie Curnow, we have something here. Can't wait to see him in a few years. Still not sure what his best position will be though, maybe a Stringer type.

- Loved the last quarter fight. We could have given up and been stomped but we showed something I thought.

**** me we were in that.
4 games into a proper rebuild.
Like all the kids and new fellas.
Intensity never I repeat never dropped off.
Missed a few goals that would have had us right in it.
I don't care how many injuries they had,we had a few go off as well.
We are on the right path.
If you want a whinge about anybody or anything about our club you can go and get ****ed.
Or we could personally arrange to meet where you could tell me your issues and I'll dish out some home truths about you being a weak pea hearted campaigner.
Don't **** with where we're headed.
I'm really stoked.
Yeah.

There was some serious effort out there tonight, we should all be very pleased with that.

We are going to struggle to win any matches this season but it is a different team and club now and we will be rewarded if we can remain patient.
I am very happy with the 4 boys from GWS. They all performed well and I think that Weitering and Plowman are going to be very good as our rebounding tall defenders in the future.

I really hope that JGM comes on a lot quicker than I think because I feel that he along with the other two will be great for us.

Sumner was a livewire up forward and I am happy with his debut. He is well worth the price we paid for the pick that got him and Plowman to the club.

Phillips slowly worked his way into the game towards the end and Lamb did a few nice things, but like a lot of our players, faded in and out of the game.

I'm happy to keep waiting for us to come good. Because the team will start to come together over the next 2 seasons. It's going to be painful, but well worth it.

Pretty fair summation.
Please post more. :thumbsu:

It's good to know most of our problems are now in the forward line in that it's a shambles.

The rest isn't totally horrid. Just need some structure and guys who can consistently Mark and convert.

Disagree, our turnover is killing us. We need to develop the basic skills. It will take time, but Bolts will get us up to the Hawthorn standard of skill. Would rather be a Carlton supporter than a Tigers supporter.

Phillips is well worth putting lots of game time into, he's a big man that moves extremely well for his size and his intensity and around the ground stuff was pretty damn good.

Feeling buoyant honestly.after the heart and grit the boys showed in the second half, taking into account how poor we were in the first half, feel like the boys really lifted after that courageous hit Sumner took, he and Mr Plow added some much needed zest and a different kind of dynamic to the team.

All GWS Boys played well in the 2nd half.

Encouraging signs

Don't let the last quarter disguise a very, very ordinary effort for most of the game.

Was Gibbs even trying for the first 3 quarters? Murphy was nowhere before he got injured. Rowe just loves making mistakes, and our goal kicking - **** sake. Our forward line is dead set disastrous and I honestly have no idea how we will straighten it up. Casboult is not the answer and McKay is years off. We need a 40+ goal KPF next year, no idea where he'll come from but we're ****ed if we don't land one.

What's going on with Kreuzer? Phillips has just about gone past him. Someone said on here last week that Kreuzer spends too long looking at the man before a ball up and questioned if he was scared - he got shut down straight away. But seriously, he does just look at his opponent and then doesn't get off the ground. He is barely adding anything at the moment, what was with that set shot?

Thomas is making me eat my words. He is trying his guts out and getting around the younger guys as much as possible. Good on him for buying in, wish Gibbs would take note.

A lot of other positives. Curnow is oh so clean, he will be a monster - reminds me of Roughead a lot. Byrne showed good things, he could have burnt that bloke in the last but his confidence at AFL level just isn't that high yet. Plowman will be a player for sure, and Sumner moved well. The GWS 4 could be a masterstroke? Hopefully.

Buckley should stay in, he is the only one with electrifying pace. Actually can't believe how slow we are.

Funny how we say Cripps must be carrying something because of his quiet game - he was still pretty ****ing good.

Warnock had a good run in late 2011 everyone forgets. He even kicked some goals

Injuries cruelled him in the end (shoulder injuries are killers for ruckmen more than any other type of player the majority of their contests are above the shoulders). Circle jerkers like to ultra-bash him at every opportunity. Just did not work out sadly for him and the club.
