Had a great day in Norwood yesterday apart from about 45 mins. First time here. I loved Norwood oval. If you're going to play an extra round then don't play at one of the regular grounds I reckon.

Ground had nothing to do with our play. Just a lot of key players for them that are very experienced and have the composure that comes with that. The last quarter as much as positional was an obvious 3/4time coaching instruction to move the ball on at any cost. GWS from about the 9 min mark had to stop the play. One more quick goal for us and the crowd would have started to get really involved.

On Ronnie Byrne's. I reckon handball school is his go. He'll never be an outstanding kick but handballing is a skill that is a lot easier to improve. He gave 2 yesterday in front of me on the southern end 50 line that if they had found the teammate he was trying to hit then GWS would have had 2 less goals. That to me is the frustrating part of his play. He fits into a Lyon team but he needs to get tackled and still get the ball off to a team mate who is open otherwise his bad is too far in front of his good. It's what gop's in top 4 teams do to have their impact. He had 2 powderpuff's yesterday that resulted in goals.

So what level is Naz top 10, top 15 is he our best player? If he goes on ball could he be top 5 , a Brownlow chance what are we thinking ?

Hard to get a read on what's gonna happen with our tall stocks. Talk of Aleer would make it:
King
Hammer
Keeler
Tauru
Barrat
Aleer
so who's a defender and who's a forward, coz that's a lot of defenders.

If we get TDK then him and Ro will rotate forward anyway so something is gonna have to give.
King & Keeler genuine forwards, Barrat & Tauru- swingmen, but backs for now.
Hammer proving himself to be a better backman than forward.
Hopefully Tauru becomes a bigger version of Georgiades.

I'm don't have the faith to look that far forward. I guess Tuaru and Barrat are very young atm so time is on their side.

King- KF
Hammer - KF or KB
Keeler - KF, 2nd ruck...who can also play Back.
Tauru - This guy could end up playing in a host of different roles
Barrat - KF or KB
Aleer - KB

And lastly you 1/ Need depth and 2/ Not everyone will make it anyway. So you do not just want the minimum.

Thought Wilson was pretty sloppy with his disposal, I prefer seeing him forward of centre than in the thick of it.

Also it seemed like we got pretty lucky with a few 50-50 calls in the first Qtr and it didn't seem sustainable, as we seemed slower and weaker throughout.

No surprises there really, the heat and congestion took most of the advantages out of our better players, but I was still disappointed to see to such poor disposal from normally trustworthy players.

First time in a while I've seen such an understanding and reasonable fan reaction after a loss, I think we are clearer about where we're at than we have been for a long time. That might change in the next two weeks.

Our best player? I think he is behind Sinclair, maybe could make an argument for Wilkie (that guy just never makes a mistake).

I expect by end of this year or next he'll be our best and probably top 10 -15. Just hope we keep him.

I don't agree. I think small grounds like that put a real focus on skills. You have to be so precise with your disposals, space is smaller, play more congested. Saints are not at GWS skill level and I thought that was the difference. Their skills bought them time and space where there wasn't much.

I think the fans are just happy we didn’t give up and did fight until the end.

Even the media - David king and i heard Gerald Healey make a comment last night saying we played well.

If it was 70-80 points, I think it would have been different on here.

GWS are right in the premiership window - it would be a failure for them not to snag one with their list. They have been unlucky the last couple of years.

Dogs game is huge for us!! They have smacked us the last few times - last year off a 5 day break.

Doggies have beaten us once in a row. Three out of the last four.

The issue with us playing the Doggies is who wins the style battle. Whichever way the game is played, that team will win.

Sincs is probably our best followed by Wilkie. Macrae, Marshall and Nas probably just off those 2 still. Nas with the trajectory to still become the best player in the league though. He's well ahead of most of the absolute stars of the game at the same age.

To win a Brownlow he's almost definitely need to go on ball.

Wilson is still a gun but he's not quite as good as he was last year some how. Definitely seems to have a messier ball use technique. Maybe more fatigued from a heavier training load.

Definately has it in his genes, to be a brownlow medalist.
Brownlow schmownlow.
I couldn't give a stuff what those crooked umpires think.
They can't even tell the difference between 15 and 30m or Jones's head and his buttock.

But he'll at the very least be a player that supporters of all clubs tune in to watch, and hopefully will finish right up there in the coaches award and the SAINTS B&F for years to come. Very very different player to Nicky, but Nicky was good enough, ump medal or otherwise. That good would be just fine.

I already watch Port games to watch JHF in full flight. Despite the free kick staging, I think he's incredible. When he gets his head right and some decent players around him H.Reid will be worth watching again. Lalor. F*** the Ashcrofts, not watching them.

I used to look forward to watching Peter Matera, Aker, McLeod, Darren Jarman, James Morrissey. O'loughlin and Goodes from the Swans. Guys who were brilliant and unpredictable - but who also got a fair bit of the ball. Daicos Snr, but I kind of avoided watching Pies games back then.

Not near enough (or any?) love for wilkies game.

Hogan is playing like a superstar peak riewoldt at the moment- he would have kicked 6+ on virtually anyone else in the comp in that game.

Wilkie was fantastic after hogan did the impossible early and beat him 1v1 a couple of times.
Yep, all things considered the backline did pretty well against probably the most potent forward line in the comp. Toby Greene did get away from us but he's hard to contain when hes on, full stop.

Wilson has the classic case of 2nd year blues, he is just going this season thus far. His decision making and his kicking are a work in progress, although his running is something to behold. He does seem a bit lost on the wing at times but that is a part of his transition to the mids. If we want these kids to develop we cant pidgeon hole them and have to accept that at times they are going to make mistakes and take time.

Woody analyses key moments St Kilda would like to have back with better decision making going forward, and how Toby Greene got off the chain 👇

Brilliant assessment thanks. I hope the club and some players take the time to watch this summary.
