If Yze is incapable of dropping certain players that’s where it goes from questioning him to wanting change. Biggest culture killer of all when players mainly senior know they got a spot no matter what and don’t need to perform. That’s how norf started on their path to disaster just sayin

Hopper should be dropped but won't. All of Green, Ralphsmith and Trezise should go but I'm not holding my breath.

In: Faull, Gray, MacAuliffe, Alger, Smith, Retschko.

I'd move our dumbest tall defender into the ruck and bring Campbell Gray in to play in his proper position as a key defender. Faull in for Lynch, Alger for Green, Smith for Trezise, Retschko for Ralphsmith and MacAuliffe for Hopper.

I guess another option is to bring in Fawcett instead of Gray or Faull.

We've seen enough of Yze to make a judgement now, and this is what concerns me the most about him. The positive side of him is that he isn't afraid of giving opportunities to youngsters, but I don't think his standards of our premiership/senior players is high enough. They seem to pick themselves every week no matter what they do.

He needs to be a bit more ruthless with his selections given we're losing by 60+ points regularly anyway. He's been presented with another opportunity to send a message to our senior cohort, and I'm interested to see what he does

Yep Nank getting injured was always the risk with our list. Now it’s happened we pay the price.

nank is injury prone/ suspension prone and just about done and we have nobody to take over

We made them work up until mid of the second, that’s a big win.

Few injuries and it rattled us and they took advantage.

Obviously half our list won’t be in our next finals play so this transition period will be tough but we need to see the good within the bad.

Yze is up there with the worst coaches in AFL history. In his 3rd year and he's yet to drop a "senior player" because he's more interested in being liked than making hard calls. Safe coaches get you nowhere in elite support - nowhere.

Then he strictly plays boundary line football when the entire competition has moved away from slow chipping football. Has a single player improved from his coaching? Has a made a single impactful positional switch in almost 3 years?

Fat Rioli gets praised for 1 tackle a week but still can't kick a ball, apparently he is an elite forward half player but the team has 1 tackle in the forward 50 at 3QT. That's how much a famous surname protects players on this forum.

We are in big trouble.

We have a coach who knows Hopper is a liability and he can't play all 3 Taranto, Hopper and Prestia on ball anymore but we just have no one else to push them out. He knows it's an issue because he even tried Campbell there at times.

Honest question who in the VFL is going to come in and push them out? The ones we desperately need are all out long term injuries

We have no real wingers, Ralphsmith has no competition for a spot hence why the club is trying McAuliffe as a wing.

We have no decent backup rucks and our worst nightmare happened today with Nank getting a hammy.

Losing Faull hurt us badly today with Lynch going down, Armstrong needs a lot of development and I would suggest he even needs to spend some games in the VFL to get some confidence. Armstrong isn't a write off but you can see why he might have slipped in the draft.

Team has a lot of holes, a lot of injuries to our kids who were supposed to push out some of these older guys for spots

It's going to be a long season.

We were in it up to our eyeballs before arguably the worst injury we could get for our structure and how we wanted to play.
Gold Coast are flag favourites and we were able to completely stifle the way they wanted to play and be the better team for the best part of a half of footy.
He gets a lot of stick on this board but I thought Sonsie was incredible that first half. Comfortably best on ground for up until HT.
I took a lot out of that first half.

The injuries are obviously catastrophic. Lynch can at least be replaced by Fawcett who should, at the very least give us a contest. OHB will get his debut for the club which is exciting even if Ryan was only a week away in the injury report, there's no way he would come straight in.
Alger has to come in and I suspect Green will be the one to make way.

Hopper can consider himself very lucky that there are going to be a couple of forced changes as I don't think they will drop him. If it's me though, I'd still drop him and put McAuliffe into his role. He was absolutely putrid today, I couldn't believe what I was watching. Inexcusable performance.

He's given no indication that he'll do what needs to be done. He even gave Hopper praise after last week. If he isn't dropped for next week he never will be. I would also drop Balta but that's pretty unlikely too.

As you said, there are no standards for our senior guys to perform to. They know they won't be dropped and play accordingly. We need a more ruthless coach.

Played a top 4 team , we're a bottom 2-3 team. Campbell was great, few tried but hopelessly outclassed by the AFL nepo baby. Hopper contract looking like pure comedy. Would rather see Alger than a few of this team, 2021 draft looking horrid in retrospect. Lack of ruck options should see OHB debut. Interesting watch on selection, will the hard decisions be made... probably not
