Well Robbo. Has had a great career at the doggies and provided so many great memories.

To be fair though, this year hasn't been his best. I don't necessarily agree that his cards were marked and he didn't get a fair go. For me the main aspect of Robbo's game which set him apart was that he provided forward pressure by chasing backmen and ball carriers and helping to lock the ball into the forward line - this more than his 50 odd goals was Robbo's value to the team. Put simply he didn't do that this year and I honestly think if he hadn't retired he would have been moved on by the club.

Thanks for some fantastic memories Robbins - including the best mark of the year that was never awarded (you were robbed) against Brisbane. One of my all time favourites who defied the notion that bulldogs can't jump:thumbsu: The very best of luck for your future.

Ruiner summed it up perfectly, he didn't touch the footy when he played and his strength [defensive pressure] waned significantly this season. Good luck to him:thumbsu:

He's only 30 right, and hasn't been injury prone of late... sounds like someone got a shove...

Robbo didn't get a game this year because he would get put in the team, have 1 half reasonable game then the following week his offensive and defensive game would completely disappear. He didn't get games this year because he didn't earn them pure and simple. It's a shame because what he gave to us last year was crucial to our team. Not saying his dance card wasn't marked somewhat but he didn't make them pick him each week.
Don't want to diminish Robbo's contribution to our club, just wanted to defend some of our selection policy this year.

Will try and comprehend.

He never got a decent run. He was a very valuable player in 06, yet come this year was discarded. Was a lot harder at the ball then alot who got a game this year.

Well done robbo. All the best in retirement.

Such is the case with our side's performance, Robbins has declined dramatically over the past 12 months. He was a very handy player in 2006, it made it difficult for opposition defence as they had to contain both Johnson & Robbins who were capable of kicking 5+ goals.

I think Robbins has been pushed, but it was probably the right time for both parties. He has certainly been a good contributor since he first came to the club, I always admired his strength and his extremely accurate goal kicking. The '06 EF he kicked some rippers.

Good Luck Robbo with life after football.
