legend of this era.
let's (with all respect) make sure his last game is against us this week.
we know that we are going into this week as the favourites, but if we think that they're (saints) not going to give a yelp for this bloke we are kidding ourselves. they have beaten hawthorn this year and i reckon the saints think they can do it again (if given the chance) so pies supporters lets not get ahead of ourselves.

what do we think about maybe even trying to get Harvs on board next year as another developmental coach for our kids, could be one of the best role models going around in regards to on and off field behaviour.

all the best Harvs! but go pies!!!

also does anyone remember any games he's done well from the past, can use this thread to remember any of those games or players we had running with him. i'm pretty sure in early 90's we used mcguane on him head to head.

He is a legend, and knowing they're now on a knife edge with his career on the line, as well as their own self-respect, we better not expect anything less than a fierce Saints team.

One way or the other, I'll stay to applaud him off.

Harves is a legend. The best player the saints have had in the last generation and back into the last. He is the almost the last of the previous generations legends with only McLeod still in that company playing.

I hope he has a bloody good game but not quite good enough.
I would even give him 9 goals in a losing side. He deserves to go out firing.
If the Saint win...I'll be rooting for Harves in the finals, not a side.

Go Pies. but Harves ...you bloody beauty.

Great player Harvey, has given us a world of trouble over the years. It would be disrespectful to do anything less than try to smash the living suitcase out of his Saints and put them out of finals, and I'm sure Harvey would expect nothing less from us.

Wow, you guys are all class. I half expected this to be a bagging harvey thread (because for some reason, they are everywhere this week, it sickens me) Kudos on having great respect for a champ of the game.. More than I can say for those scummy cats fans who respect nobody. You know, you pies fans get a bad rap at times, but when it comes down you it, you're all very passionate fans and you actually understand football and how to act in certain situations. Am actually happy we're playing the pies, cos if we lose, you lot are a group that will stick around and cheer off the great man, not hang crap on him after the match, regardless of how he plays.

+5 respect points for you guys

Well done guys, if you happen to beat us, i'll be cheering your boys on without a doubt.

Cheers for that!:thumbsu:

Win, lose or draw (well we can't draw actually but you get the point) I would be very disappointed in any Collingwood fan in they didn't clap off the great man.

I was only 7 years old when Harvey started playing football and in a way his retiring is the last of those childhood iconic players that you aspire to either being or beating when kicking a water logged old sherrin in the park with your mates.

Would love him to come and take on a midfield coaching role for the pies.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to send Mr Harvey off with a song on Monday night but I too am hoping to see his last game in what has been amazing career.

He has been playing so long that his stats only go back to 1991 on the internet!

As I said in his retirement thread, it's something of a bizarre feeling seeing him go. After all, I've known nothing else other than Harvey playing footy ever since I was born, so it's a bit of an end of an era in some respects. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's the only remaining player who played in the VFL. I've always had the utmost respect for the guy and will be sad to see him go, it's just a bit of a shame that he looks likely to never win the ultimate prize.

So yeah, if we do happen to win this week then I'll be giving him a standing ovation, and I'd hope that the boys form a guard of honour for the guy. You just got to applaud a guy with such longevity in the game, and the way he's gone about it both on and off the field has been great.

But that's no reason to go easy on the Saints this week, Harvs would know more than anyone that there's no space in footy for being sentimental. We've got to acknowledge, however, that the Saints will be coming out all guns blazing in order to win it for the guy, so as such we'll have to respond accordingly.

i reckon we should try pick up harvs in the pre season draft next year

anyone else reckon this is a good idea?

Yes, but as a midfield coach, as some have suggested.

I hope it'll be a game worthy of a great champion. Just might have to cheer the first time he gets the ball.:thumbsu:

well its nice to know a collingwood fan will be going to the grandfinal to cheer him off :)

Are the retirees going around the ground in convertibles before the game again this year? :D

As much as I wish the plague on the Saints on Saturday Night, I will be saluting one of the consummate professionals of the VFL/AFL for the last 20 years. I will be clapping him off the arena, irrespective of the Pies winning or losing.

Couldn't forget all of those games where the Harvs single-handedly put the Pies to the sword in the games of the middle and late 90's.

As the last surviving player of the old VFL and a two-time Brownlow Medalist, his legacy on the game in the years to come will be profound.

Three cheers for Harvs last game against Collingwood :)

GO PIES !!!

Too old. Let's go for youth.
Lol...

Ah gotta say it again, you lot are a very respectable bunch, kudos

Even though i expect to hear "ya old codger" being yelled out, which is all well and good, i know come final siren, you'll all stand and applaud and remember. I think both clubs remember the countless times harvey or Buckley tore the opposition a new one.

Great work guys
