Or should that be cross dressing?

Says that Collingwood WILL miss the finals and finish ninth as they MIGHT have a run of injuries.

So who are the eight teams that will finish above us that are apparently IMUNE from injuries.

Apart from Brisbane, you could mount a case for every club missing the 8 IF they cop a bad run of injuries to their top 10 players.

But i would of thought you can only pick the eight based on the squads that all teams have available at this stage.

In a way its got me quite fired up but on the other hand im loving everyone writing Collingwood off again as this team has shown they are at their best when they are backs to the wall.

Your thoughts?

Have any of Robert Walls predictions ever come true.
He thinks no one will remember his inane rantings come September.
Crystall Balls perhaps? (Pun intended).

Old Throbbie ain't the best tipster.

He can't even stick to his guns during the 2 hours of a game, the amount of times he contradicts himself is hilarious.

Give him a few weeks and we will be flag favs, a few more after that and we will be spoon favs.

RObert tipped Melbourne to win the 2000 grand final and we know how close he got on that one. Its just an opinion guys, i wouldn't worry about it to much as robbie gets a lot more wrong than he does right.

I actually called in to ask him if that opinion was based on the wizard cup and he suggested it did have a little to do with it, which just proves his foresight....I wouldnt worry to much, he loves being controversial....

Was trying to say we were lucky with injuries and although we have a gun forward line- our defence is poor - I thought that was one of our strengths????

Every side bar Brisbane needs to have a good run with injuries.......

And also he was offering his expert advice to clubs week after week in the year 2000 on how to beat the bombers, what a great job he did. R. Walls is an acid tongue for carlton, that's all he is and always will be.

I actually feel more confident about Adelaide's chances now Walls has predicted we will drop out of the final eight. ;)

He spent the entire 99GF talking about how the Kangaroos were running out of legs and that Carlton would be running over the top of them any moment now...

AFL takes a beating
The Australian Football League is tonight coming to grips with a fresh scandal. A new documentary has revealed that 10 years ago, the then Brisbane coach Robert Walls ordered eight of his players to sort out a problem team-mate. The so-called sorting was little more than a systematic bashing, with the other players taking turns to thrash their hapless colleague.

---------
Compere: Tony Jones
Reporter: Rob Waters

TAPE, AFL PLAYERS' ASSOC, VOICE OF ROBERT WALLS, FORMER BRISBANE COACH: We pulled the boxing gloves out, we made a big circle and we put Strempel in the middle of the circle and we let him go a round with one player, and then dropped that player out, and then we put another player in to go another round.

ROB WATERS: This is the remarkably frank admission of Robert Walls, former coach of the Brisbane Bears, who ordered eight of his players to beat up Shane Strempel, a so-called unpopular and undisciplined youngster in 1991.

VOICE OF MICHAEL McLEAN, FORMER BRISBANE PLAYER: Absolutely hammered him.

His teeth were getting chipped off and he had saliva going everywhere and a little bit of claret.

SHANE STREMPEL, FORMER BRISBANE PLAYER: You're 21 and your senior coach tells you to do something, so you have to do it.

MICHAEL McLEAN: I can recall Brad Hardie walking over to him, he was the last one to go, and he said, "Rob, you've got to call it off "because you'll kill the boy."

ROB WATERS: The AFL Players' Association video has sparked debate as to what are the acceptable limits.

The forthright Walls stands by his call.

ROBERT WALLS, FORMER BRISBANE COACH: I was angry with him because he was just not giving to his team-mates.

I felt he was letting his team-mates down and this happened for quite a while and in the end I had a gutful.

SHANE STREMPEL: I lost all respect for Robert Walls as a person and as a coach.

I thought, "Stuff you, Wallsy."

He obviously wasn't going to get the best out of me after that incident.

ROB WATERS: The Players' Association says Walls's methods would now be indefensible.

ROB KERR, CEO AFL PLAYERS' ASSOC: I don't think the players would allow that to happen themselves.

The modern player is far more questioning and would be far more reticent to get involved in something like that.

ROB WATERS: Walls's arch-rival Kevin Sheedy resisted the temptation to take another verbal swing, but did say he'd never do it.

KEVIN SHEEDY, ESSENDON COACH: Life's changed.

You look back at what happened in the army, navy and air force and the police force and what happened in war time.

We all sit there on moral ground at the moment, making judgments.

ROB WATERS: And today's coaches couldn't afford such crude training methods.

TERRY WALLACE, BULLDOGS COACH: I'm not really big on our blokes getting out there and trying to injure their team-mates.

Rob Waters, Lateline.

When I read this thread I thought for a blinding second that Wallsy was dead! A bit harsh, I admit. Glad to see though that Walls is not rated in this forum...
If Voss plays well this year (injuries aside let's take that as a given, shall we?), and Wallsy commentates, do you reckon that he'll mention that he was Vossy's first coach and basically intimate that the only reason he's any good is because of that fact? Like he does EVERY SINGLE TIME HE GETS THE OPPORTUNITY?
And that Strempel thing is a nightmare. No wonder they got rid of him.
For a Swans supporter, somebody who really has not been 'touched' by Wallsy, it's amazing how many issues I have with him.

Throbbie Balls has zilch credibility.

I have never seen a 'football expert' contradict themself so much.
Seriously, he contradicts himself at least 10 times a week on football statements. And when he is wrong about something (happens alot), he brings out all this crap and excuses to save his arse and keep his credibility in tact. He aint foolin' anyone though.

i dont think that would happen these days, however i wouldnt be too surprised if it happened again this is football after all (not some prissy game like soccer). I know that a certain young collingwood footballer who did something stupid earlier this year was dragged out of the hospital bed by two senior magpies and ordered to run around the tan. That's the right way to do it. It sends the proper message but without the complete humiliation of an ordered an bashing from your coach and teammates.

Why would it surprise every-one if Collingwood missed the finals this year? They have already been beaten by 100+ points.:D

Yes for once I think every bigfooty fan can unite on a topic to declare that R.Walls is a first rate t00l whos predictions can be taken with a grain of salt.

It really is amazing we all have vastly different points of view on just about everything on this board except Walls.]

If a group as diverse as the posters on here can unanimously agree that Walls is the biggest dud we have even had the misfortune to hear then ........... there is hope for world peace

Haha

So true. I guess he finds it easy to talk up the winners and bag the losers. But as soon as the winners turn to losers or vice versa he changes his tune pretty quickly.

Glad to see many others note his fickleness.

"You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both crazy and they won't take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement."

He's got to go, where do we start? Perhaps a website www.sackrobertwalls.com, featuring a listing of his most ridiculous and obsequious pronouncements. Build the pressure. Get the petition. Put the blowtorch on Ten and get rid of the bum.

What I don't understand about Robet Walls is he is an obviously well educated and intelligent man, and yet he has a propensity for mindless comments. Is this something they teach people in the media, because there seems to be so much of it.

I remember Robert Walls telling us before the start of 2003 that the Western Bulldogs were easily the best Melbourne-based AFL team ..... and they finished bottom.

We all agree

At last we've all found someone to UNITE against. It's a miracle.

Everyone hates the bearded sh*t for brains.

However on my hatred barometer Walls still rates under Eddie
McFathead.

Getting all this sh*t out of my system is better than an enema.

lol, the guy still thinks he's responsible for Brisbanes recent success, the same idiot who tipped Melbourne in the 2000 GF and said Essendon lost out in its trades of '02.

I think that not only did he tip Melbourne to win, but that they would win comfortably by around 4-5 goals!

He also tipped Brisbane in the 2001 GF by around 40-50 points. I remember him interviewing Sheedy after the game and Sheedy testily referring to the fact that at least they'd lost by less then he'd tipped.

Actually, I don't mind Walls as a commentator but his article in 2001 saying that Libba should retire after the Knights incident was pompous and misinformed, a real shocker.
