The thing is, heaviness isn't just about the riffs, it's about intensity, something that Subtruck have in spades over Karnivool.
Agreed Subtruck are intense and probably more so though than Karnivool from the times I have seem them live. They are however, very different forms of music, with Subtruck having the no holds bared approach much like Henry Rollins and Karnivool being more melodic and diverse, which I personally prefer. But it is good to have discussion on such a topic when not alot of people support the Perth local music scene. Good to see some local music punters on this board, rather than talking about some poxy sh*t you hear on the top 40. :thumbsu:

Do they even have a liscened area?

Where the hell did you think the 24,000 people who weren't tone deaf went during Scribe and Simple Plans sets at the last one? Took ages to get a beer. Was great seeing them get bottled as well ;) .

Whilst you have a point about the general demographic of the crowd, its ridiculous to say "because A is playing, I'm going to deny myself the enjoyment of seeing B, C, D and E". I did that when Blink 182 cancelled and missed out on a great set from Grinspoon. Whilst Simple Plan and Scribe sucked at the last one; it doesn't detract from the fact that Greenday, Grinspoon, Shihad and Frenzal all played great sets. Likewise, its not often I'm going to be able to see the Foo Fighters, Oasis, Spiderbait and Wolfmother on the same bill for 60 odd bucks, so I'll go and enjoy myself without getting ridiculously hung up on the crowd.
