You idiot. You named the 2 positions we actually have. We don't have the midfield and forwardline to compete in finals football but we do have the Ruckman and Defence.

If you think you have a backline and a ruck combination that will help you bode well in finals football then you have no idea. Your only defensive backman is Lake and he is a backup tall defender at best, your other backmen have no defensive skills whatsoever. Name 1 backline you're better than!

Your ruckmen, Minson and Hudson... you're kidding yourself. Name 1 ruck combination they're better than!

Your midfielders, Cooney, Griffen, Akermanis (albeit not as often as he once was) is a competitive midfield. Cooney has poor decision making skills under pressure but it's not something he can't improve on... Griffen is a gun! Cross and Boyd have helped but obviously played slightly different roles than the beforementioned genuine midfielders.

Your foward line, which has been pointed out to me (thanks x_box_x), has had Brad Johnson, Jason Akermanis, Scott Welsh, Mitch Hahn. Daniel Giansiracusa and Robert Murphy all kick over 30 goals... I'm not sure of the exact statistics but I would've thought that would've place the Bulldogs 1st for the number of players to kick over 30 goals for any one team.

So Donners you obviously have more insight than anyone else on the planet.

Dale Morris is close to a universal choice as AA defender and is clearly the best defensive backman, while Lake has shown himself capable of mixing it with the power forwards including an exceptionally strong record against Jonathon Brown. He does tend to look to be creative and can get caught out, but he is more than a back up.

Injuries to 2 of prime defenders in Williams and Addison has forced us to shuffle things for best available rather than best.

Was simply providing an outsider's perspective as supporters of their club become bullish about their playing list, I was setting you and your fellow supporters straight. Morris had 4 goals kicked on him by Michael Osborne, his biggest ever return mind you. Before someone says it, I'm not basing this on 1 game. Dale Morris is similar to Nathan Bock of Adelaide as they peel of their opposing player to get the cheap possession. It's exciting football that a "defender" can gather 20+ possessions in a game and for me this goes along way to them receiving AA attention, despite their inability to beat an opponent in a contest.

You're basing your teams' selection of backmen restricted with the absence of a 19 and a 30 game player respectively???

Akermanis spends about 10 or 15% of each game in the middle, so is only abit part midfielder. Cooney and Griffen are very good midfielder's or will atleast be, but Cooney still struggles against the tag and Griffen's disposal isn't always good. Boyd and Cross try hard, pick up alot of the ball (probably ave. 25 per game), but are hardly damaging.

Geelong have 6 or 8 very good midfielder's, Hawthorn have a few less, but still more than us

How does our forwardline go against teams with either good midfielders or a good defence?

If our player's up the field have time and space they can hit up a leading target, but we do not have any forward that consistently take a contested mark.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think Morris actually played on Osborne did he??? As far as being similar to Nathan Bock, I think Donners you may be thinking of a different player, Morris isn't there to peel off and get cheap possessions, because his kicking is generally poor! Apart from Buddy (who was obviously too tall and strong from the start, but that is another issue!) he has only been beaten this year by S. Johnson. So before you come across to try and get some finals action on a board you perhaps should get your facts straight.

Geelong are the standout team and one of the best team in history, comparing any team to them is not fair. Hawthorn also have a reasonably slow midfield in comparison to other teams in the competition, but they make up for that with G & D. I did say Akermanis did not play there as often as he once did.

Hahn and Murphy are great targets across the half forward line, Hahn playing a Spalding or Sammy Hammil-like CHF is extremely important to your small forwards and if he is shut down then yes, it is tighter for your small forwards. However, Johnson is an extremely good mark for his size and only an inch shorter than Gary Ablett Snr and he kicked 1000.

The delivery to your forwards is made difficult by the opposition's pressure, your players are poor under the pump... this takes a pre-season or two to correct, no biggy.

Will beg to differ with you on that one. You can either kick or you can't. We have too mnay player's in our midfield who have been there for a while who's foot skills don't stand up under pressure.

Perhaps you should watch the replay.

As for getting finals action, I've seen 4 premierships in my lifetime.

Griffen and Cooney are both only 22, I wouldn't be too disheartened just yet.

But they need some help and I have no confidence that any of the other future/ current midfielder's (besides Hill & Harbrow) in the team on Friday night will improve their games such that we become a better team.

Draft/Trade well if you're talking longer term. I hear the Bulldogs are looking at Andrew Lovett. Lovett is a potential match winner but does go missing, perhaps a change of scenery may be beneficial for all?!?!

Gee theres a response I didn't expect to receive...very original

I was there Donners, Morris was getting towelled up by Franklin and then I believe swapped with Harris onto Roughead. I will stand corrected if I am wrong but unless it was for a short period of time I don't believe that he played on Osborne.

Potential match winner, now I know you are taking the piss and have no idea what you are talking about

Osborne kicked his 4 goals before half time when Morris was playing on Franklin.

Please tell me any game where Morris has been getting cheap possessions. You must have him confused with someone else. Perhaps you don't understand that the Bulldogs play in Red, White and Blue and you have him confused with Joel Bowden at Richmond (Yellow and Black to help you out)

Thanks BJ, I was starting to think that I was going crazy, perhaps Donners should get his facts staight, have a look at the reply before he jumps up and down again.

Perhaps if you watch Essendon matches you might've noticed on several occassions this season Lovett was the match winner, namely the first Carlton game and the Fremantle game.

To take you back further to a game you may have seen, ANZAC Day 2005- match winner.

He certainly has his issues and he struggles with consistency but yes, he is most definitely a potential match winner... and also one of the most balanced kicks for goal at full pace- also see first Calton game.

Righto, why get rid of him then??

He is quick, flashy, yes, but a match winner no.

Have you looked at the replay yet to see who Morris was playing on?

Is that so, well perhaps Morris has a double-up as it looked an awful lot like him when Osborne took the leading mark after springing high into the air which had the commentators praising the leg-weights coach. I think it was half-way through the 2nd quarter... please... correct me if I am wrong!

Consider yourself corrected. I have not watched a replay so Morris may have been in the vicinity but was not Osborne's direct opponent. Morris was still opposed to Buddy at that time.

I think we are off the topic here, but he is no match winner, played 17 games this year for 14 goals, hardly inspirational stuff.

Reply all you like with your dribble, but I think it is best for all of us if you go back to your Bombers board and talk about those 4 premierships with your mates as it is going to be a while until you see another one!

And for your info Morris is a AA backman in any side
