Will be interesting how they use this years draftees.
Normally, they would be given limited game time and perhaps not even play until later in the rounds.
I'm sure the club won't want to risk injury to them, and play them more than would normally be required.

Our listed players should get preference over the top ups, so Conor McKenna should be in there somewhere.

Depends on whether they think throwing McKenna in straight away is best for his development and confidence. Given he has never played before I'd think they'd be more inclined to ease him in through the VFL with less pressure.

I can't wait to see Magner get another go. Hopefully we use him properly!

As a slow and poor user of the ball? Only had 20 disposals in 5 of his 19 AFL games.

Yeah, I guess there's a reason Melbourne started using him as a tagger. A few of his games were pretty damn good, though.

Such a shame that we cant have our (available) players playing in there suitable positions. Notice you name Gleeson on a wing but feel due to circumstances he'll likely end up in a BP/HBF.

Ordinarily he'd be more likely to play hbf but in the absence of Stanton, Winderlich, Goddard, Zaharakis, Dempsey, Melksham, Heppell, Myers, Browne, Colyer, hocking, Howlett it presents an opportunity for Gleeson to player further up the ground and possibly showcase his pace and skills more so.

Hopefully all of the 34 not playing means that other blokes like Gleeson and Edwards can really shine and prove their worth, could be a coming of age for some. Be good to see Langford and especially Laverde in action

Way too early to call a definitive on this, but what good will come of the ex-AFL listed players putting up their hands for another crack?

As mentioned of two examples, we're getting Jones and Magner. Jones played in Grand Finals, while Magner was at the lowest club in the comp.

Is a minimum 3 NAB cup games enough for them to do enough to look at being selected in 2016? With no mid-season draft, there's a long time between a good performance in NAB 2015 until draft day later in the year.

What a staggering waste of time the NAB Challenge will be. Can't blame the club for not wanting to take part. They're meant to be practice matches and our team can't play.

I won't look at it as a waste. Out of any negative you try to turn into a positive - we can give McKernan more forward time and see how some youngsters go.

The replacements can take a hit and play more percentage game time. If senior players end up missing 1 or 2 of these matches then so be it. A lot of them would be nursed through anyway. We'll do our best to turn it in our favour.
