On my first campaign playing as Rome, keep having slave uprisings every turn in various settlements. I used to enslave captured soliders but now I just kill them and despite that still have so many rebellions to crush haha.

Hopefully the patch fixes the prologue campaign, my game crashes on the cutscene after the second chapter when you conquer that last City.

I also find Rome 2 very different due to your cities having 'garrisons' rather than individual units who can move around the map.

Still enjoying the game though

yeah the slave thing seem a great idea to increase production etc... but I had the same issue with uprisings...Now my slaves get killed

Do you have repeat slave uprisings in the same provinces every few turns? I feel I crush them as soon as they pop up but they still keep happening even when I stop enslaving captured soldiers. I'm guessing it must be a public order kind of thing so I'm trying to 'romanise' all my cities by converting them to roman culture and building latin temples yet it doesn't seem to be working just yet. If only you could build garrison units like you could in the past - I'd just stack heaps of units to try and control the public order. Even tax exempting some cities hasn't made a big difference.

It's not ideal but I'm managing to hold most of my regions (or can capture most of them again within 1-2 turns when they fall) but since I'm fighting most of the Greek states as well as the Pictones, it would be nice to have my cities away from the fighting being stable :D

Ive found AI city defense near non-existant whilst they attack you...I always try a sneaky counter attack with 1 army and have got many cities this way early on

yeah, I've found the AI is pretty dumb in general still - I've managed to repel sieges with only leves and plebs because the AI will sometimes stand too close to towers that shoot arrows which whittle them down over time.

I found it was too hard to manage while I expand rapidly early on as I want my troops elsewhere to battle and protect front lines. Im about to slow down my expansion a bit so I can better concentrate on converting my new cities and generally increasing my moral over my empire...ATM my moral always tinkers on the edge so Slaves just cause issues

TOTAL: ATTILA just announced

I got wood. ROME2 had a shitload of bugs at launch but is still the only game I compare to the Civ series, ****ing amazing combat.

Wonder if they'll do a new engine. Rumour that they're working on the Warhammer license too, TOTAL WARHAMMER could be pretty great.

Get the Divide Es Emprum (i tihnk its called, some latin shit like that) mod, drastically improves the AI

Apparently family tree's are back!

I've been playing a lot of Napoleon and Empire Total War recently and Shogun before that. Still only have the 1 campaign in Rome 2, find it harder to get into despite being awesome graphically.

Rome 2 is my favourite for combat (I like the units in medieval 2 the best though), graphics, civilzations etc. I just wish they didnt have the stupid random events, and had the family tree and diplomats etc that actually mattered.

then we could have had a game of thrones mod for it.

Anyone still playing this? Picked up the empire edition and living it so far. Apparently ask the patches have all but fixed the problems it was having.

About 10 turns in with Athens, just took Larissa. Trying to figure out whether to sell across and stay attacking or knock Epirus off.

How do you declare independence in this? Can't see it on the diplomacy options.

So you think it's worth it? I've been tempted so many times but held off for many reasons, mostly issues. Like I have Shogun 2 and it didn't work for about 2 years and said I won't buy another one of their games.

I'd say definitely worth it if you like TW games. I played a bit of Rome 1 but apart from that this is my first TW game. Battles and graphics are great

Yeah, the patches and mods have made this the best of the series IMO(been playing since Rome 1).

You should just be able to declare war on your overlord. If not, just wait until they get in a war and decline their call to arms; you'll automatically start an war of independence against them.

That happened before, so I guess I've already done it!

Also randomly before, Sparta went in to battle with Epirus and it came up with two of my armies in the battle as well? Was just outside of my border on the Spartan side. They definitely aren't my defensive or military allies. Also I only had one army near (in Atheneai), other was in Larissa.

Also Sparta are taking over Macedon. I think they'll be coming for Larissa soon, and there have a big army.

That's weird, never heard of that happening before.

Yeah, nip Sparta in the bud if you can. Their infantry is much better than yours, in fact the only advantage you'll get from waiting is your tech boost.

How are the other main factions going in your game?

I have a non-aggression pact with Sparta at the moment apparently. Not the worst thing as they took Apollonia pretty early, but I'm not sure how I'll get out of that one without making them angry. They also just declared war on there next faction along the cost from Appolonia. Might need a further alliance with them do you think?

I haven't explored too much. Seetting up diplomacy a bit. Epirus are somehow still around. Looks like their retreated in to Italy but have no cities. Pontus at war with the Celts, Macedon with OK and me. Have a defensive alliance with Egypt. Most of my time playing is spent googling what the hell something means. The lack of info given is pretty frustrating at times. Getting the hang of it now though, just need to research the more advanced battle strategies. Knossos offered me a non aggression pact too, so I took that for the time being. Set up a trade route with Pontus and another non aggression pact there. Plan to take Macedon sooner or later and match North. Might send a fleet across soon when I can muster up units besides the bloody javelins.

I want to build up my navy but I'm currently getting 240 wealth from maritime and 120 from local commerce with my port at Athenai.

I've declared independence from Macedon and also declared war with them. I attempted a siege but they had way too many, plus I really suck at siege battles. The auto resolve had me winning with 65% remaining but it feels cheap so early and I really want to learn how to battle properly. I had a test run to see how I went and got smashed so I've retreated and am researching the tech for giant ballistas. Actually just realized I have a bit more money now, so much try a couple of the smaller Greek ballistas.

I'm so bad at siege battles. OK took Macedon just as I was about to (probably would've failed) considering I outnumbered OK 3-1 and we still lost the same amount of troops.

Just seem to be running around like headless chooks. Any plan or formations i have call apart pretty quickly

Definitely getting the hang of it now. Smashed Macedon, they have just one small settlement left, and I I've wiped out all but one army of Tylis. Both tried desperately for a peace treaty and offered to become my client state - pass.

Want to take over Sparta but they have a military alignment with Egypt who are pretty big. I had am alignment with Egypt myself but they broke out when I wouldn't join then in war - was busy with Macedon.

Public order is a bit of a problem but it's improving. Might need to make an alliance and send them to take Egypt whole I knock off Sparta. No one wants to at the moment though, need to do some grovelling; maybe Pontus.

The last time I played, the patches made a huge difference compared to the early days following the release. Have been on Napoleon TW a bit but might give Rome 2 another go.

I quite enjoyed Attila - apart from the fact it seems it was endless rebellions across my empire and my legions were stretched very thin fighting abroad, defending boarders or crushing internal rebellions haha.

Any reason why my I can't send a second wave of troops up a ladder in siege battles? The AI does it, yet move just mill around at the bottom.

Oh and towers being shot with artillery just stop and won't move?
