Few regarded players slipped through the draft today, any thoughts on who the Saints should be looking at?

In terms of types, key forward would be a priority in my opinion, small forward and a small defender.

With Gold Coast having the first five picks, a Panos, Dare or Temel is unlikely, but I'd love us to land Geary mk II

Gold Coast have the first 5 picks? Christ.

Roland Ah Chee - Racks up the possesions, can't use it though.
Majak Daw - KPF
Andrew Hooper - Very very small defender. Maybe too small, 174cm or something like that.
Myles Sewell - JJ Liston Trophy Winner
Liam Patrick - Jurrah's cousin. KPF. He wants to go to the GC though. So he'll probably go there inside the first 5.
Anton Woods - TAC Cup B'n'F. Never worked this out but thy is it that players who win the tac Bnf almost never get picked up? Is it cause they get more opportunity at TAC games since all the good players are at State reps and they're not?
Derek Wanganeen
Kallen Geary - Endurance animal
Dylan McNeil - Pint sized ball winning mid
Dylan Grimes - KPD
Mitch Thorp

He can still comeback, and we can still preselect him. But he's a weird one. You'd think the only logical reason he'd ditch a rookie spot with us is because he was guaranteed a spot on a senior list elsewhere. Unless we pissed him off, or don't have the money to work on Josh and Ted. Which i seriously doubt either happened.

Mitch Thorp

No thanks. Mitch is out again for 8 weeks with yet another injury. This bloke is yet to prove himself as anything and yes I realise injury has prevented this. At least JW Smith has proven it with a BOG in a final.

Geary mk II sounds like a winner

if the saints didn't think much of the draft (which was why they only selected one 18 year old. why will they fill their rookie list?

i do hope the pick up Daw, or another NT aboriginal players. want some more quicker players.

Because in most liklihood it will be the rookie list that will become the high turnover list and t will be similar to this draft in that any keepers are rookie promoted tot he main list to cover any delistings/retirements/trades etc. Instead of making the main list entirely "volatile".

When we took Ross Tungatulum last year from NT, we were also looking at taking Jimmy Pau.....mirri (my apologies, I have forgotten his full name). We did not take him as he was not registered for the rookie draft. He is only small, but he can play. I wonder if there is still interest there.

Well if we're going to take Duncan and/or Widner (Widmer? I've seen both spellings), today's the day. 1PM deadline.

List lodgement three's tomorrow, guess we'll find out then.

Burgan posted his phantom rookie draft today. He has us taking:

20 - St Kilda - Tom Hill (Northern Knights)
36 - St Kilda - Daniel Scott-Collings (Glenelg)
49 - St Kilda - Johnny Raynor (Western Jets)
60 - St Kilda - Jarryd Allen (St Kilda)
And at 69 - St Kilda, some kid called Tommy Walsh (County Kerry, Ireland - international)

He's got Roland Ah Chee being overlooked. Wouldn't mind us taking a look at him. Geary mk II going to Sydney at pick 26. Lot of players being redrafted by their old clubs.

For those wondering

Tom Hill
Height: 199cm
Weight: 82kg
Bio: Athletic key forward with strong hands overhead. Excellent speed and agility for his size with sounds skills by foot.
Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?
I barrack for the Saints and have been a supporter since I was a kid because my mum always went for them. Robert Harvey was my favourite player as a kid.

Daniel Scott-Collings
Height: 180cm
Weight: 72kg
Bio: Dashing wingman with good pace. Can win his own footy and rarely fumbles when he has it. Smart footballer, whose sound awareness allows him to bring teammates into the game.

Johnny Rayner

Just spoke with a friend whos cousin is married to your recruiting manager and he said that the saints will defs take tom hill if he is still around by your first pick.

Believe Ross mentioned we will be taking 3 rookies.

I can't find the exact quote but I remember him saying something along the lines of being committed to taking 2 or 3 18 year olds. If we take that at face value, we could be using the other pick on a mature age rookie.

http://bigpondnews.com/articles/Sport/2009/12/12/Saints_aim_for_youth_405269.html

St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has revealed the club will not be targeting experienced players in next week's rookie draft.

'We've got our experience through the door and we're committed to two or three under-18, youthful types that haven't been in the system before,' Lyon said.

In that case it sounds like we may not be taking our full compliment of rookies.

If we aren't going to take a mature aged player I'd like to think we'd go for 4 kids alongside Walsh.
