Forgive me if I'm wrong, but with Simmo retireing, we can place him on the LTI and upgrade a rookie?

With Gourdis already set to be elavated, that leaves:

Hicks
Contin
O'Rielly
Gilligan
Westhoff

O'Rielly seems to be the only one in the VFL seniors, so is he ahead of the rest?

We can't place him on the LTI list.

However I believe we can (along with the rest of the comp) upgrade 2 rookies for the rest of the season now we're up to rd 11.

I think it's only one rookie that can be upgraded.

We can only upgrade one, and there's only one that deserves to be upgraded anyway.

This is from Wiki. Usually anything AFL is closely monitored on Wiki so im assuming their must be something in it. It is confusing all the conflicting reports.

Rookies are usually picked as young, developing players and can be elevated from the rookie list during the year, if there is a long term injury or retirement to a senior player in the team.
I remember when Danny Jacobs retired, Hawthorn couldn't upgrade a rookie, so I pressumed it's the same. I stand to be corrected :thumbsu:

Yet another reason why you should never ever rely on Wikipedia.

Simmonds has retired on his own accord so we don't get to elevate anyone for him.

EDIT: And further proof whoever wrote that wiki has no idea is, "once the rookie is elevated, he remains that way until the end of the year" which is also wrong.

From http://www.afl.com.au/development/n...am/nabafldraft/about/tabid/13514/default.aspx :

Rookie list "players can play in the pre-season competition or be promoted as a long-term injury replacement player during the home and away season."

will be interesting to see whether we promote a couple of these players to the senior list at season end or leave as rookies with more draft selections remaining...all of them could be a chance...with Gilligan least likely

Gourdis up forward is the answer to help out Jack. The backline looks settled and we are in need of some quality up forward. Gourdis will add to the defensive pressure in the forward line. Leave him there for a few games and see how he goes we can't get any worse that we are now up forward.
