Roo's book.

Yup, the cover proves that no effort was put into its content.

Conclusively might i add.

I have a fair bit of experience with books (both as a retailer and as a PR person) and I can tell you, very little effort went into the concept of this book and that IS evidenced by the very poor front cover. Hell, even I have better photo's that I've taken of Roo over the years and could put a pretty flashy cover together in 10 minutes on publisher. The saying "you can't judge a book by it's cover" is not always right. Sometimes you can, and this - I believe - is one of those times. This is purely a "let's cash in" title that Roo's agent probably thought was a good idea at the time. And hey, it might make him a truck load of cash, but in the end the fans will be disappointed (except for the 500 that get an autographed copy), and the book, once read, will end up in a garage sale somewhere down the track. A book of real quality would not - it would be a keepsake for all the die-hard Adelaide Crows and Roo fans.

I honestly believe Roo deserves far better than this.

Ive just had my 2 signed copies delivered. Looks a bit better than I thought. There is about 30 pages of colour pictures there in two parts.

ive bought a copy of roos book - havent ready any of it yet...i got a copy early because he is coming back to waikerie (which is where I live) and is doing a book signing day.

and yes i agree the cover is poorly designed. Mark Bickleys cover was much better. Even that crows decade book looked heaps better...

I bought it - quite frankly it's a bit of fluff unfortunately. Poorly structured, very light on details. Covers his whole career in just one section! Spends a whole section on his business interests!

I hate to say it, but it's just a piece of opportunistic rubbish and quite disappointing, given the subject matter. If I were Roo, I'd be a little embarrassed :o

My signed copy arrived today :D But for anyone who wants a signature on their's, Roo's doing a book signing at Angus and Robertsons at Burnside tomorrow from 3.30 to 4.30pm.

As I suspected.

flicked through some chapters today at Kmart and it looked poor.

Looked like one of those 'unauthorised autobiographies' you can get on every Hollywood star, light on detail, lots of subjecture, way too many 'Mark thinks this' 'Mark says that' and for a book on Marks career the actual football side of it seems scant at best.

When a 2 minute flick of the book finds at least 4 times the words 'When Mark makes a decision about retirement..' for a book about a retired sportsman, it smacks to me of opportunism.

Hopefully a fully comprehensive 'Ashes Diary' of his career comes out in a year or two when the dust settles and Roos hada break from footy.

I give it the :thumbsd:
