Great news. Paul ROos might even last long enough to coach his own son at the Swans (assuming his son is a talented Aussie Rules player).
Except they would go to the Lions under the FS rule!

Great news btw, I think a lot of people were taking pot shots at him for willing to leave when the core of the premiership team retired.

Wonderful news!!
Does amazing things for the supporters, players, and club.
Good on him, and just imagine if his young bloke made it..

Yes!

I love you roosy

great news, I for one subscribed to the theory that he was going to hand the job over to his apprentice.

The question now arises as to what will Longmire do, is he happy to continue on as the apprentice.

He deserves an opportunity to coach, any chances another club will give us a first round draft pick to take him and give him that chance.?

Was about to post something along those lines myself.Given that they have extended Roosy's senior role until 2011,that would mean that John Longmire will have been his assistant for a decade should he choose to stay in the hope that he gains full control of the reins in 2012.
Now I know that Roosy has revolutionised the roles of all his 2IC's,7 this no doubt aids in the "loyalty" process, but it is dedication in the extreme should it happen.I would be very happy to see this ,I may add, as I have the utmost respect for John Longmire as both a person & leader .

Do you reckon horse will hang himself with it ?

Headline;

'Horse killed by his own'

It's likely that the new western Sydney team will be looking to appoint a coach before 2011 and you would think that having such a long tenure as an assistant of a successful team in the Sydney market would put Longmire right at the top of the list of candidates.

I got the impression from the last game after function (featuring roomies) that Horse is happy to be 2nd fiddle!

I seriously, nearly posted a thread (yesterday sometime) that Roos must make a decision extend or decline NOW... as the next 3 yrs are critical

I could not be more delighted he has decided to stick it through.

A no brainer given his kids need to finish school in Aust before folks or family, think about heading to USA!

His tongue in cheek " non career coach stuff" is his brilliant reverse psychology humility!

ROOS= the best coach in OZ!

It would make for killer showdowns as well, presuming that Roos is still around.

I'm delighted that Roosy is keen to stay with us for an extra couple of years while we rebuild, but I do think he will have to find ways of keeping the message fresh over the next few seasons as this is the time after 5-6 years when coaches start to get stale.
