Wow Melbourne are a bit harsher than we are with our WAFL round ups.
Maybe it was all part of our plan to ship him off at the end of the year.
There's always a market for GF team rejects, not so much for guys who can't get a game at Melbourne
Vivs writeup last week from the Dees website:
Viv Michie: Viv played inside mid and forward. He had it 19 times and he had zero tackles, zero missed tackles and zero fumbles. Viv’s ball-winning ability isn’t being questioned – he’s really good in and around traffic. The area of Viv’s game that’s letting him down at the moment is his defensive accountability and his transition away from a stoppage or a contest. His man often anticipates a turnover and spreads much harder and it’s an area we’re working closely with Viv. He’s well aware of it, but he’s making no real signs of improvement at this stage, so we’re going to continue working really closely with him.http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-07-08/vfl-player-review-round-13
Pretty damming writeup!

Looks like he'll be delisted, just doesn't run hard enough, and even if he's aware maybe he just innately can't get it out. Still like the guy.Vivs writeup last week from the Dees website:

This is his write up from the weekends game. hopefully he isn't on the chopping block. in an article on their website it said he is a player being considered for selection this week
Viv Michie: Viv had 29 disposals. He had six tackles, one missed tackle and one fumble. He played inside mid for a large portion of the day and went forward at times to give him a rest. Viv was quite influential around the contest this week and his stoppage work was really good. The area that has let Viv down in the past has been his defensive transition and we thought he improved in this area, which is a real positive for Viv. He looked energetic around the stoppage and was solid in transitioning away from the contest, which was very pleasing. He had nine inside 50s for the day, which means he’s getting the ball in damaging spots as well. He was effective with his disposal and was a key reason we got over the line in the last quarter.
You do your fair share of howling down of other posters, many of whom are later proved correct. Most of the calls on future champs in the WAFL are made by posters who havent seen them play but go on statistics in the press.
I mentioned that Mitchie did not run both ways and lacked defensive pressure for Peel and was howled down
I'm far from an expert but it wasnt hard to pick up his problems watching him play

However, I agree with you about Michie. I didn't see it either.

Gawn is of very similar dimensions to sandi. Very few ruckmen near that size in state comps. Lots of good mids though. Dunno whether that comparison is a fair one.Geez, their write-ups are a bit more frank and fearless than ours. Maybe that's the problem, morale is going down the tubes! Have to question the standard anyway - Max Gawn had 80, yes eighty, recorded hit-outs for Casey last week. On that basis Viv should be getting 55 touches.
Damn, Melbourne are pretty harsh.
Not enough goods.we had some classic ones in when malaxos was doing ours.
a guy would get like 8 touches for the game and the write up would like "Joe really worked hard in a scrappy low scoring game, managing to crash a few packs and work hard both ways. He transitioned strongly out of defense but wasn't used very often. He played on Johnston who kicked 8 for the game but we felt he competed really well. Really encouraging signs as Joe continues to build his game. We're really pleased with his efforts"
Maybe next time don't whinge about being howled down, you sensitive old man.Takes a howler to know one![]()
