"They've put another two on". LOL. Has obviously thought long and hard about free agency. I recall Buckenara saying that Rough was a perfect fit at the club because he epitomises everything about the club when we recruited him. Champion player is champion bloke.

Hard to keep track of all the signings, it does seem like nearly everyone is signed and sealed for at least next year though?

With all these recent signings I think it's clear that the Hawks offer to Buddy will be a "take it or leave it" call.

Don't believe there will be too much more room for negotiating when the crunch comes.

I've got no problems with that. Hopefully Buddy hasn't either and does the right thing for the club.

If not, I wouldn't particluarly blame him either if he can get an extra $500k or so elsewhere. So be it.

Congrats Rough, your a star!! Well done for sticking with the Hawks. Not sure what he is on, but I could prob safely say that Rough could get double at another club...... Buddy are you reading/listening??

Its not all about the $$.

Brilliant news, well done Roughie.

I love how guys like Rioli and Roughie love our club and are happy to stay at the Hawks with their mates and don't even bother worring about the extra cash they could easily get at another clubs.

Well done to the Hawks for creating this environment where they all want to stay together for the ultimate success. Hopefully Buddy sees this too and stays for less than he is worth on the open market.
 
This is more great stuff from the club.
  1. Keeps these guys away from other clubs nabbing them
  2. Shores up the list (in case Buddy goes)
  3. (Maybe) puts a bit more pressure on Bud to sign (with the rest of his mates)
All round very professional work from the Hawks - very impressed!
Is this the same Fantasia we were hearing all that crap about when he first came on board? :)

I get on his case here now and then but it's only cos i know how good he can be.I don't think he has yet reached his potential and it's great to know he will be with the hawks for a while yet.

Also heard a bit of the interview and he said" it's great to a one club player".
Almost like he was having a dig at someone

At the end of the day its Buddy who can potentially earn the huge bucks not Roughie! Yeah its great Roughies signed fantastic!! But unless your in Buddys shoes and were in a position to earn mega bucks, it would be easy to sit behind a keyboard and sling mud and hope the Bud takes heed!! Maybe Buddy needs a fresh start, maybe hes a happy Hawk through and through! Whatever he decides it will be a win/win situation im sure!! Have faith my fellow Hawkers!

He also said it was a club that other players from other clubs want to come to and how good the culture was. Although I think a bit too much is made of 'club culture', I do think Hawthorn is a good club and can't see why anyone would want to leave unless they couldn't get a game, especially when we are playing finals on a regular basis.
 
I just like to thank all our recent signees as they have all proved themselves as loyal servants of the hawthorn club, which helps me believe that club loyalty does still exist in our modern game under the huge dark cloud of free agency and big $$$...

Most players generally are loyal to the clubs Its only a select few that are not and those stories by the
media get so much press it makes the issue look bigger....

Most players stay where they are for success rather than money...So in Buddy's case his club have done their best they can by making him a very generous contract offer so I hope Loyalty and success is his number one priority, for the club that have helped in making him the player that he is!!
