Great work by Roughead staying #AlwaysHawthorn but I was reading the article about Him in the Herald Sun and it mentioned "Hawthorn is yet to re-sign free agents Lance Franklin, Luke Hodge, Sam Mitchell, Brent Guerra, Michael Osborne and Max Bailey." Think we have a couple of key re-signings in there, once again top notch research herald sun well done

Great stuff Ruffnut.

I get on his case here now and then but it's only cos i know how good he can be.I don't think he has yet reached his potential and it's great to know he will be with the hawks for a while yet.

Also heard a bit of the interview and he said" it's great to a one club player".
Almost like he was having a dig at someone

Or....maybe he just thinks that it's great to be a one club player!;) Not everything has to do with Buddy.

Hodge has already re-signed. I wonder if they will be announcing a few over the bye round like they did last year.

That certainly helped us get through that week without footy last year, was a great initiative
I wasn't aware Guerra was also a free agent at the end of the year

No, but I saw this recently on the Hawks website

http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/2013-05-09/five-hawks-eligible-for-free-agency-

Doesn't tell you much though. Maybe they are waiting until a bit later in the season before deciding on Bailey, Ellis, Guerra and Osborne.

Ellis signed for 3 a couple ago and still has 1 after this season from my reckoning, Bails, Goo & Ossie are all on 1 year contracts.

That is, they are contracted for this season and only Bailey could expect that his contract will be extended by more than 1 season next signing, Goo and Ossie (as vets) will be 12 month contracts.

apologies for bringing a dead thread back but I'm almost certain that Guerra has annually renewed his contract at Hawthorn since we picked him up. I don't think he's ever signed a multi-year contract

Ah ok your probably right
Thanks for that!
Lets hope he improves or maybe this year could be it for Goo, really struggling

Excellent news.

I just like to thank all our recent signees as they have all proved themselves as loyal servants of the hawthorn club, which helps me believe that club loyalty does still exist in our modern game under the huge dark cloud of free agency and big $$$...

Most players generally are loyal to the clubs Its only a select few that are not and those stories by the
media get so much press it makes the issue look bigger....

Most players stay where they are for success rather than money...So in Buddy's case his club have done their best they can by making him a very generous contract offer so I hope Loyalty and success is his number one priority, for the club that have helped in making him the player that he is!!
Edit: Really like this picture:p:D

Fantastic photos, especially the 2nd one.
How could Bud leave his best mate??
I think that picture speaks volumes about the special connection Buddy & Roughy have.

Just remember if a new company that wasnt currently as successful offered double your wage, what would you do?

There is loyalty where the difference in contracts is 20% or even 30%, but when the difference is starting to get in the range of 50% plus it is very hard to stay loyal.

Since money isn't an issue for Buddy as he's pretty well off financially and set for life...
So... if I was in a similar position i would take the 20% or 30% less, just for the unforgettable memories of the celebrations of my team-mates of premiership success, which only Hawthorn are is in a strong position to provide for him, multiple times.
