At this point in time James Sicily & Tim O'Brien are battling for a spot in The Hawthorn Forwardline, do you think there has been a clear winner yet? Who do you predict to come out on top for Round 1?

Is Fitzpatrick in this conversation?

Big shoes to fill and at this stage both have shown glimpses and not much more. I think in Nab 3 we will get out best look as we may put in more than 10% effort to execute a gameplay at some stage. Hardwick could be a wildcard ;)

Fitzpatrick. Size, experience and can ruck when needed. Need a Hale replacement as well as a Rough replacement.

With the Fitz knee injury I went for TOB as he can be a better target up forward than Sicily and he also has redder hair thus covering more of the Roughy "role"

None of the above.
Clarkson will go for talent and juggle the forward line structure accordingly.

We've already seen Birch tried in Roughy's midfield role and if we can't find a suitable Big bodied forward the delivery patterns / structure will be altered to suit.

I expect to see more of Hodge, Burgoyne and Lewis isolated up forward
Gunston and Shoey roaming a little less and Cegs / Big Boy bringing the ball to the ground.

Under those scenarios there's little place for the above mentioned candidates other than as backup.

Hodge forward!

Would love some young mids to take over and just plant Hodge fwd for the next couple of years. The guy needs a Coleman

How can you have Option 4 (Both) in the Poll when you have 3 names listed above? o_O

Poll needs more "None of the above".

I voted for both.

It seemed to make sense.

Ceglar is the Hale replacement. He had Big Boy will do 99% of the rucking with maybe Shoey chopping in for a couple as necessary.

All we need from the Rough replacement is a forward who can take some marks or simply make a contest to bring the ball to ground for Cyril/Bruest/Poppy.
I still believe that we should be getting some NAB time into big Shem, he is more likely to be the one to play the same role as Rough. If he is not ready the Fitz is the most logical replacement in terms of like for like.

At this stage I see both Sicily and TOB as more of the Gunston style high-forward.

No clear winner. Both have learned a bit from this week and will have one last chance to impress

Kind of agree, as I believe we will have a better idea when we see a side with more of our senior players. However, I never, ever try to predict what Clarko will do. We are assuming that it will be like for like when maybe a smaller player will be used. A lot could depend on Cegs, and if he is ready to fill Hales shoes. I also expect an improvement in Shoey's form with Gunners and Breust both in the side.

Not sure we'll be allowed to replace one player with two. :drunk:

I like the idea of having 19 players on the field.

It will be Clarko's latest innovation.

Underwhelmed with all options.

Based on Fitzy being injured I expect TOB to get the gig.

Any chance Burgoyne could play FF. he started his career there.

I reckon TOB always had the gig. Fitz was there if Cegs or Big Boy go down, Backup if Pit was still a little raw. So Pit going to get his chance this year now.

TOB can run and fly and play his role better than Sicily. TOB is more reliable to play where he's supposed to, contest when he's supposed to and keep his head about him. I reckon Sicily's hot head may do him harm at times. He may try to insert himself into plays when he shouldn't.

I'm just guessing but the key to playing well at hawthorn is being predictable for your teammates. The shot from the hip does you a disservice.

Dunno. My layman's observation.
