Our problem now is far bigger than coaching. That was obvious last year, and when you dont bring in anything other than MSD picks and other clubs rejects, you cant expect some sort of magic turnaround.

Vis needs to be dropped to the 2s, Sweet whilst he doesn't have all the attributes to run all over the ground as much, he competes harder and better in ruck. Poor decision to have Vis as primary ruck. Guaranteed Mead will be back in squad next week now Esava and Aliir were the heck were they? Toddy at least did some good efforts and he's not even supposed to be a true key defender and now most likely gone with injury... Logan Evans made too many F ups like last season.. Thought things might of started looking up for him again, clearly not.. Jones is still a potato spud McKinlay just wasn't good.. period.. 2s for him, don't care how much effort he's shown and puts in if he can't even play AFL quality.. Lord tried but again he does nothing except give a ruck option, forwards just didn't clear the space for Georgiades and didn't work together at all... Zone defence works but these idiots need to learn to change to man on man defence and adapt if needed.. too loose off players and it showed and they got crucified for it. Defending as a team they said.. well, you all got exposed as bad incompetent players. Butters nowhere to be found and Hornet should have just been left out and played in the 2s.. he did nothing useful at all. Bergs was atrocious and this whole back to mid to back positions has screwed with him and consistency. Basically, if these coaches care about picking the right players on merit and hard work and being the best player for that position then half of this team is out in to the 2s next week.

We're at the point where we might as well commit to Visentini.

Josh Carr has been left behind a poisoned chalice.

It may take awhile. The bombers will be looking at this and see an opportunity.

These players have it in them. It doesnt disappear in one off-season. We culled the weakest of the bunch in the off-season and sent the warning shot. Now its time to make good on the threat. If we arent looking much better by round 4-6, end careers.

People saying that the club has no mental strength or backbone and that's all true, but more than that, even if we found it... Were was the structure and execution? The brief moments we tried it was still basically under 8's get the footy forward and hope. There was nothing to suggest even with a better attitude that we could have beaten them.

That was a Hinkley game... Maybe worse as Ken had an identifiable structure and plan. A shit one albeit, but you could see it unfolding.

Rozee flakey, Bergman coming off no pre season games as was ratugolea, Butters worked semi hard was the only one with dirt on the back of his jumper but if your already 98% out the door whats really the point. Hes not upping his value everyone knows hes pretty much gone just nathan krakouer

I thought he got his hand to the ball in ruck and around the ground surprisingly well, but boy was he a paper cut-out after that. No physicality around the drop of the ball at stoppage and numerous dropped overhead marks, some of which directly led to goals against. Disappointed with him would be an understatement.

North will only win a few more games for the year

North will push for the 8. Pretty strong across the whole ground now just not as much depth if they get hit with a bunch of injuries. They've had four years of solidly putting games into talent and bringing in good players.

Round 1 over reactions. Just because north were really crap 2 years ago doesn't mean they are now, they weren't that far off it last year. Just because Collingwood was good 2 years ago doesn't mean they aren't big average or worse now as that's the reality this year.

Our biggest issue today was the complete lack of effort and intensity which led to half ass attempts to tackle. Ken era shit hanging over from not bringing in someone external to take over. We bathed in a preseason win against a real horror show team and then loaded up round 1 with kids and then got a reality check.

I waited SEVEN MONTHS to see that slop!

Smashed in clearances and contested possessions, more missed tackles than I've ever seen, pathetic defending, no system in attack, midfield woeful. There was NOTHING to get excited about.

We have to bring effort and intensity, because it's all we've got. Don't want to pick on the inexperienced players like McKinley, Watkins, Visentini and Whitlock, but Lord is useless, Bergman needs to get fit, Allir looks past it, Wehr was underwhelming, DBJ has reached his floor and Jones is not improving.

The biggest issue is leadership. Rozee, Butters and Drew are meant to provide direction for the team, not slip over when kicking in, dropping off tackles, playing conservatively and jogging in the wake of Sheezel and LDU.

Utterly pathetic, put in effort and show intensity. This needs to be punished at selection - not sure if Luko will fix intensity, but we need class. Zadow perhaps, can't be worse than Byrne-Jones. Brodie and Lorenz might help in midfield. Marshall will need to be replaced - they'll probably bring in BZT orRamm but I'd like to see Lai.

I'll turn up next week, but can't guarantee my seat will be full all season if this doesn't prove to be the outlier!

The team under Hinkley lacked resilience. One week mentally up the next week down. It was sometimes hard to know which team would turn up. I hoped Carr was going to address that but it’s still a work in progress

Yep this is still Hinkley's squad and the stains won't come out in the space of an off-season.

I have been of the opinion that Carr should have at least looked at choosing a different captain. But given the performances today I understand his apparent dilemma: not one player stood out as a realistic alternative.

We have many experienced players, particularly in the midfield, so the lack of leadership is damning (mainly for Hinkley).
