St. Kilda vs. Sydney @ Telstra Dome

At half-time, the scoreline read:

St. Kilda (Hawthorn?) 5.6.36 to Sydney (St. Kilda?) 3.1.19


The Saints (Hawks?) came out in the last quarter and kicked 7 goals to bury the Swans (Saints?).


Andrew Demetriou said after the game that the way the Swans played football was a blight on the AFL and a "disgrace".

Everyone bagged the crap out of Sydney for playing that way, but they stuck to their guns.

They continue to pursue that sort of gameplan, and lost only 2 more games for the rest of the season.


They then went on to win the 2005 AFL Premiership, and everyone who derided the Sydney coaching staff were left with egg on their faces.


Any similarities?

I also think that - in addition to the injuries - the Saints probably spent a lot of time thinking about the Swans and since then have had one eye on their extended trip to Freo (they leave on Tuesday). Maybe they took their eye off the Hawks game. Also, while I'm on the excuse train, seeing as Clarke and Gram were out with a virus, does anyone know whether any saints who played were affected?
