It's over now. I've marked this one down as a loss already.

I won't even get out of bed on Sunday. I might stay there until Wednesday.
I'll warm up the Vent Thread.

If a star player got concussion at training with delayed symptoms on Tuesday of gf week how many teams are ruling him out of the gf? Tho presumably the player fudges his answers to pass
I think he's concussed because he was actually fudging his answers..

Whatever happens this week isn't going to define our season either way - we will drop games that we don't expect to in our next block of fixtures, important thing is that we are fit and ramping up again towards the end of the season while ideally maintaining a top 4 position.

Sharp has earnt his spot

The question is Scerri or Noddy, can see it being Scerri with Young's forward minutes, Bolts/Reid/Johnno takeup Young's inside minutes

I think Omac is better suited for the rule but nows the time to give Davies a run (Davies is more of a Cox replacement IMO but should be able to get away with it this week)

Cannot be dropping these ones

We have a tough run at home in the back half of the season and are currently 1-1 v top 6 sides
Cats, Suns, Swans, Dogs, Crows all at home to end the year

Sharp for Wagner
Hopefully Davies for APearce
NOD for Young.

Fairly like for like.

Sharp, Davies and NOD consistently the best at Peel with Scerri not far behind. Scerri didn’t have his best game on the weekend.

We played much better opposition last week and tbh I don't the three outs were even close to being amongst our best player.

Losing the skipper, a solid role player and potentially one of our biggest weapons isn't ideal but if we cannot cover with these outs against a bottom four side we dont deserve to be sitting where we are on the ladder.

Only real concern for me is Young can turn a game in a few minutes at his best. We've still got probably 4-5 players that can but it's just one less player that could stand up if required.

More than comfortable Davies of McDonald will be fine on whoever they have to play on. Wagner is a better player than Sharp but tbh I'm not sure we'll really notice the difference.

Voss against his old side will want to impact the game, although he only kicked 1.2 last year. Scerri would too as a kid who grew up in Essendon.

No that’s dreadful thinking. Dropping this one would be completely unacceptable for a side that has designs on a flag.
They’re a bottom 4 side - anything less than an 8 goal win would be underwhelming.

I am actually genuinely concerned about this one. PTSD probably.

I feel like it might be:

Davies for Pearce
Sharp for Young
Banfield for Wags.
very concerned.

We should however win this if we're as good as we hope and believe. Having said that, Essendon will sniff blood. They've improved a lot in the last couple weeks, and they have also never lost to us at the G. We lost to them here in 2024 after they came back.

Just feels like a banana peel game with our "outs", plus coming off a solid run of games.

Having said that, there will be no excuse to lose this. playing at the G, where we need to win, against a bottom 4 team, we just need to win this game.

didnt love sharps last game, seemed to crumble under the pressure a little bit imo. scerri despite having few touches was able to step up when his time came which was promising, wouldnt mind him back in.

It's quite simply a non-negotiable. Good teams get a result here. Nothing else to it.

Considering the weather is getting worse and worse and now looks like a wet weather game, I'd steer very clear of selecting Sharp.

Caldwell in and Young out in these conditions is definitely not ideal.

I've seen us lose to Essendon in Melbourne far too many times. Aren't we 0-4 at the G' against them?

With no Pearce and Young, add in the wet weather, I smell a danger game.

Still expecting a win, but like I said against the doggies, this will be far closer than people expect.
