So Dimma mentioned there were 4 that come up

Read, Swallow, Moyle, Lemmens I’ve seen

Personally I think Holman will play given he got his minutes managed

Moyle for Witts
Read for Walter
Swallow for Graham
Lemmens for ???

I doubt Noah will be the one rested but 110 minutes, most CBA’s as a mid, 14 contested is nuts in darwin
Lloyd Johnston is also up

GOLD Coast is considering resting players for Thursday night's Sir Doug Nicholls Round opener against Hawthorn as it navigates two games in the Darwin heat within five days.

Last year the Suns rested ruckman Jarrod Witts from their second game in the Top End, and again Ned Moyle has travelled with the team as it contemplates a similar move.

Young tall Ethan Read was 'managed' from Saturday's 10-point win over the Western Bulldogs and is in Darwin and ready to go, as is veteran David Swallow.

There will be at least two changes from the team that held off Luke Beveridge's men, with Will Graham (shoulder) and substitute Jake Rogers already back on the Gold Coast.

Would love to see Rogers get some full minutes in the 2s. Would play on ball, they don’t play till Saturday. And obviously only played 11% on the weekend.

Jepson heading up peaks my interest if he debuts

Graham will be a bigger loss than his stats show.
Id say Lloyd, Ned and Swallow in
Rogers, Graham, Witta out.
Dave/Lloyd sub
Yeah, I was thinking similar.

Fiorini could take Graham’s role as a mid/forward potentially.

Then bring in Johnston or Jepson, and either stick them on a wing or move Powell up the ground and let them be another rebounding defender.

Swallow seems an ok sub option if we wanted, or could just take the Graham role instead.

Graham injury sucks as he plays a pretty selfless role, but may have been rotated anyway for a rest. Rogers being injured gives him a chance to go back to the VFL to develop more once fit.

Not that it makes any difference but I feel more confident about this game than Dogs game. Personally, I think Dogs is better team than Hawks at the moment.

I am a bit surprised that it seems Hawks fans are more optimistic than Dogs fans were.

We played bloody well against high quality in-form Dogs and I expect to back it like last year although we were cooked in the last quarter against Cats.

Hawks have also only 5 days break and have to travel. No easy game on the road. Conditions again advantage Suns due to off-season training in the same conditions.

IMO, we match them well. Last year we spanked them at PFS and its started their turn around. According to their coach their struggled to adapt to humid, slippery conditions, sweat ball.

Changes will be interesting. Important player for Hawks is Meek who was fantastic last year. Some Hawks fans suggest he could do with rest. I expect Moyle to replace Witts and do OK.

Missing Day in the middle is a big loss for Hawks. I am optimistic we can at least split in the middle. If that's the case and we also deliver in contest we should win.

I would not mind to see Johnston on the wing. Why not to see Lemmens too, haha?

If people were pointing out our easy fixture so far look at Hawks one.

Suns by 34.

It looks like it could be Moyle vs Reeves in the ruck

Hawks apparently resting Meek, Gunston, Breust. Dear (probably) and Barras in.
Suns resting Witts. Gleeson mentions Graham badly injured shoulder :( Please no another Lombard. It did not look like dislocation. I hope it's not rotator cuff.

Agreed. Hawthorn haven't played anyone difficult except Geelong, who they lost to.

The Suns match up pretty well on the Hawks and Darwin is a stronghold.

I think Mac takes on Mabior, Collins plays off Gunston, while I don't think their defence can handle King or the Suns goalkickers.

Gunston, Breust, Meek rested. Dear likely in according to Gleeson (The Age).

Was just reading that. Thats a lot of experience out of the forward line.
Moyle can handle Reeves.
Dear coming in off some reduced minutes coming off a long term injury.

Played one half, then two full games at Box Hill.
Touch will be the issue.

Hey all.

You happy to be playing this in Darwin? What do you think it might have drawn Sat 4pm @ Metricon?
Most fans would prefer to play all home games at PFS or max one game in Darwin. Those games are very taxing and following game we don't play well usually.

It's a bit crazy that Suns played only 2 games at PFS so far this season. But money (AFL) talks, Suns have no choice I suspect.

That said most teams struggle in Darwin conditions while Suns are used to it as most of the pre-season training is in similar environment.

18-20K is my guess or even close to sell out (around 23K) due to ladder position. Swans game crowd was 18K.
