Am i the only one here that is going into this game extreamly confident? I may be a bit caught up in the hype after watching my second live game on Satdy (sat near Cotchys missus -WOW) but after watching what we did to Hawthorn, i just cant see us losing.

We play alot like the hawks and they accounted for the Saints quiet easily, however it was at the mcg so thats a slight difference i suppose. If we get past the saints Friday, we will beat Freo at home and GWS and therfore head into the bye being 7-5

Exciting times ahead!:thumbsu:

Quite confident myself so much so that Richmond will win by 47 Points

I'm positive this will be our day. The whole country is talking about us and we will refuse to lose to the Saints once more. Lets dominate Tigers :thumbsu:

Will you be disappointed if we don't get 95,000 at Etihad? There is room on the roof beams you know?

David King said on 360 tonight that he didnt expect this to be close but for Richmond to win comfortably.

I get worried when King pumps us up, did it last year saying we were the real deal only for us to lose a few on the trot, though this time he may be partially right.

Trolling perhaps?

Still has it in for the club who showed him the door and demoted him to the media.

He's trying for his reverse Moz again.
Not this time sucker!

Hes the first on the bandwagon, and will be the first to slam us if we lose a few in a row. I think the unofficial title of the games premier analyst has gone to his head.

I saw that too and was pretty surprised, considering he was one of those calling our game against Sydney last week and saw us completely dominate them for a half (and then put the que in the rack in the last quarter, to have energy left for this week).

Considering the fact we could so easily have been 10 goals up on Sydney by early in the 3rd quarter, he must either think we're not going to repeat that form this week, or that Richmond are about the best team in the comp.

But then again, he has been writing us off all year and has been wrong about us so far, so this may just be more of the same.

David King said we would finish top 6 last year.:o
The only person on that show who got things pretty much spot on was Robbo. He's not buying into the Tiger Time crap and is rightly pessimistic until he sees continued, sustained results.
IMO tomorrow night is symbolically very important, but it's not make or break as far as our development goes.

Yep, agree that our development is on track regardless of Friday nights result, however a lot seem to have bought into the media hype around us being able to play finals this season - Friday night is VERY important if we are to play finals

I would love for us to play finals this year, but n the grand scheme of things, i am not bothered by it. 2012 wS always going to be a 'next step' year for me, not necessarily finals.
Agree that we need to win tomorrow to make finals. I just don't place as mu h importance on it this year as most do.

I love how Scott Watters is trying to turn the heat up on us... On the Herald Sun site he's stating that our midfield is the best in the comp!

ST KILDA will have to combat what coach Scott Watters has rated as the best midfield in the AFL in tomorrow night's blockbuster against a resurgent Richmond.

Asked today to rate the Tigers' improvement this season, Watters said their midfield was a standout in the competition.

"Their midfield is arguably the best midfield in the AFL,'' Watters said today before Saints training at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

"We have had many people say that throughout the week.

"Have a look at the depth - (Trent) Cotchin, (Dustin) Martin, (Brett) Deledio, (Nathan) Foley, the list goes on and on.

"I think if it's not the best midfield, it's certainly close.''

Pendlebury, Swan, Sidebottom, Beams, Thomas...
Our midfield is nowhere near the best in the comp...yet.
Only a matter of time though...

May as well get used to the hype early on so they can learn to deal with it. :D

Who are the Saints players Denham said we were targeting at the end of the year? Anyone know? Would be good to have a close look at them.

Pretty much how I feel.

Obviously I'd love to win, and feel we need to to remain a realistic chance for finals, but at the end of the year, I'll be satisfied with being 'there abouts'.

My goal for the year is that no team will treat us lightly and consider us an easy win, and that people will expect us to make finals next year. So far at least, we're looking good for both of those.

Making finals this year is a bonus.

Still want to win though :)

To me this is a game unlike any other the Tigers have had this year. Us and St Kilda are battling for the same thing (a spot in the lower half of the 8)
Considering we finished 7th last year (after finishing the H&A rounds 6th), on the back of a terrible start to that year (one win and a draw after our first 7 games), we'll be aiming to do better than that this year, especially considering we're going so much better now than we were at this time last year and that we've only just gotten rolling, after a slow start to the year.

Probably the only ones down on their good form of last year are Dal Santo, Gwilt (who has only just returned from his knee reco) and Peake (while Schneider and Raph Clarke haven't played due to injury, but are avail again now), while we have Lenny back (which is like swapping Lenny in for "no. 23" on the list), Gwilt is now also back, and we've seen significant improvements to the likes of Armitage, Steven, Simpkin, Stanley, Geary, Kosi and also added Saad and Milera. Gram is also apparently over his chronic groin problems of the past couple of years (which he has had for most of the time since he tied for the Norm Smith in 2009) and has also looked closer to his best this year, after an apparently full pre-season (reportedly his first in years, like Kosi).

Aside from the annoying current injuries to Fisher, McEvoy and Stanley, pretty much everything else is looking up on last year and the good thing about our recent good form is that Riewoldt, Dal Santo, Goddard, Gilbert and Montagna haven't been at, or even near their best, consistently, over that time, so if they join the party (which I expect they will, if they get the sniff of September again), there's no reason we wouldn't be aiming higher than "bottom part of the 8", where we already are. One thing this group know how to do is win games of footy, and they also know how to get on a big roll (the best example being 19 in a row in 2009 and even last year we won 11 of our last 15).

Considering how you're playing at the moment, maybe you ought to aim higher as well? In 1996 we finished 10th (and had not played finals since 1992) and then in 1997 we had won one of our first 5 games and there was talk that we might sack Stan Alves, yet we ended up finishing on top of the ladder and were leading the GF by two goals at half time (before Darren Jarman went bezerk, kicking 5 goals in the last quarter). Anything can happen.
