St Kilda v Gold Coast
Sunday 25 May 2025 - 4:40pm AEST - Marvel Stadium
Buckle up, buckaroos. This one might sting - Gold Coast are in scary form and have strengths in their squad where ours is riddled with holes and inexperience. It's going to take a monumental effort to come close here, we can only hope our poor form and two embarrassing losses in a row can spark something.

Saints by 44

There will be a few changes this week depending on availability, obviously Macrae will miss which will be a huge loss. Like EH above I would love to see Max Heath given an opportunity at Full Forward - give the kid a chance Ross he cant do any worse than what was served up in Perth. Sharman simply cant play that Full Forward role he doesnt have the size or game for it, use Max as a decoy if required.

Zak Jones will return and possibly Clark if he is fit, but it is time for Mitch Owens to be given a lot more midfield minutes and the club have already began his transition.

Collard needs some time back in the ressies and I guess the way McLennan was subbed he will be omitted also.

It wont happen but I reckon Steele just needs a break from our midfield. I would let him play a half forward role for a while and take the pressure off him and allow him to get back enjoying his footy. Then slowly reintroduce him to the midfield ala Dangerfield but play mostly as a forward. The problem for Jack is the cupboard is bare, particularly now Macrae has picked up a nasty lung injury.

Start Travaglia as the 4th medium defender option.

The smoky thats a possibility is Keeler to return and play the CHB role. He looked much better in defence for Sandi this week and was even using some physicality in his marking/spoiling. For the near future I think thats where Isaac needs to play, he looks a lot more switched on when given a job in defence.

I think the WCE loss will bite hard and strangely think we will go close to beating the Suns after they have had the past 2 weeks up in Darwin.

Get Keeler down back and throw Caminiti forward.

Bring Boxshall and Clark in.

Move Trav into the 22.

Everyone needs to relax on Steele, he laid 14 tackles against the Budgies. If that isn't leadership I don't know what is.
Maybe getting more than 16 possessions and not getting beaten to the ball?

Wilkie, Hammer, Webster
Nas, Sinclair, Travaglia

Marshall, Steele, Clark, Windhager
Byrnes, Hill

Pou, Wood, Owens
Sharman, Heath, Higgins

Wilson, Garcia, Jones, Boxshall
Sub: Hall

In: Clark, Heath, Jones, Boxshall
Out: McLennan, Macrae (inj), Collard, O'Connell

Clark, Jones and Boxshall to bolster the number of players who can win a clearance in our side.

Heath to provide us a tall target allowing sharman and Wood some space. Also allows Owens to only go on the ball as a burst mid.

Macrae loss hurts.

Trav to get a full game as a.genuine half back.

If I could pick the team

Let's try not going in undersized for once. A team of weak runners isn't working

I would say Heath won't get a game if he couldn't be an emergency ahead of Boyd i'd say he's no chance of getting in.

On Steele didn't go to a centre bounce in the last quarter he played Owens,Sinclar,Garcia,Pou & McCrae & might of given NWM as well.

Not necessarily.

Maybe the club saw more value in Max playing a full game as first ruck for Sandy than sitting in a grandstand more than 3,000 kms away 🤔

Still don't think he's even close to a game, might be proven wrong but i don't think so, could even be off the list at seasons end with Dodson just starting to make some progress.

Why would you drop O'Connell?

The next few weeks looks really tough. We really need to pull a win out of our arses here but honestly just don't see it happening with the cattle we'll have out there.

Back to the reliable Jones and Clark - just keep Boxshall in and bring in Tauru we are gone this year and next anyway

Funny how a month can completely change a football club's outlook.

A month ago, I though we were 50/50 to win against the Dogs, and expected us to win 3 out of the next 4 after that. The Dogs were 2-3 going into that game, and we had games against lowly Freo, Carlton and WC coming up.

Dogs are just about the best team in the comp now. And here we are, having won one of the last 6, having been thoroughly outclassed and outworked by the worst side in a decade.

Something's gotta give. Our ball movement has completely stopped, the flow and freedom showed in the first month of the season is gone, and I would argue nobody on the list has improved from 2024 apart from maybe Higgo.

We're gonna get embarrassed this week, GC have more top end talent than most clubs see in 20 years, and we're a pit of mediocrity. Suns by 90.
