ESSENDON BOMBERS
Yyyyyeeeewww!
Flat-track bullies no more, the Eagles were taught a lesson by this batch of Baby Bombers, who still don't know the meaning of the words "Give up".
Down by 5 goals late in the second quarter, the Dons produced relentless footy in the wet conditions at Optus Stadium to come away with a win that will live long in the minds and hearts of Essendon fans.
Jake Stringer took a while to get into the game, but when he did, he slotted three straight goals in a row to put us up in a position to win.
If the footy gods exist, they were looking over Alec Waterman, who sealed the game with a booming set-shot goal; consigning his former team who delisted him over illness to their first loss at home in 2021.
It has to be said that we were aided by Tim Kelly and Oscar Allen both going down with injuries, but these are the sort of wins that build an unbeatable culture.
We managed to put the ball inside 50 22 times to six in the final term, whilst restricting West Coast to only 78 marks for the match.
Goal kicking accuracy could have certainly been an issue, especially with 3.7 kicked in the fourth.
Parish. 36 touches. 11 clearances. Mental.
Merrett. King.
Heppell. Best game he's played in years.
What a win.

RICHMOND TIGERS
Things weren't looking good for the Tigers after the first quarter last week when Adelaide piled on six goals early.
As we all know, however, these Tigers just find ways to win. They restricted the Crows to only two more goals in the second and third term, whilst piling on 11 of their own.
Jack Riewoldt is starting to look like an evergreen, slotting 5 goals and taking an unreal mark running against the flight of the ball.
I will mention that the AFL Media surely has recency bias regarding marks because calls of that being the greatest of all time were laughable. Yes, it was good, but it's not even the best mark in his family. Just sayin'.
Callum Coleman-Jones is looking like a very likely prospect, slotting 4 goals himself.
The Crows got the jump on the Tigers in the fourth, kicking the first four goals to cut the margin to 9 points before Jack took the game by the scruff of the neck.
Ralphsmith is a first and surname put together and it confuses me.

Subs announced approx. one hour before the bounce.

This time around, pretty simple ins and outs for one of the biggest games on the home and away calendar. The Dons see Aaron Francis return from a week off with sickness (no rona), at the expense of Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, who is yet to cement his position in this side. At this stage, it's looking like he won't. Will Snelling, one of the most consistent performers in the side, will miss a few weeks with a broken thumb, whilst his replacement is Brayden Ham, the unused medical sub from last week's win against the Eagles.
The Tigers bring in two indigenous players for the indigenous showpiece game, with Marlion Pickett returning having served a suspension, and Shane Edwards returning from injury. The latter is particularly bad news for us, considering he will more often than not murder us every time he plays us. Daniel Rioli has been dropped to the sub role, whilst Hugo Ralphsmith has been dropped after a two-goal game last week. Stiff. The biggest news is Toby Nankervis suffering an injury, which will seriously hurt Richmond both in the ruck contests and around the ground without his marking.

Every week, this team just soars past my expectation, and I truly think we can take it up to the Tigers at this point. Factor in the fact we've been in Perth for the better part of two weeks, and we're sky-high on confidence after a huge win against the Eagles, I think we might get it done. Just.
Essendon by 3.
