Autopsy Round 13, 2022: Dockers breakdown the Hawks

Pretty spot on. Serong was much better than Brayshaw, Brayshaw had 30 odd touches but only 4 contested and collects a lot of easy footy from little 20 meter chips to him, plus had nearly 80% of them in the back half. Omeara was great and had 30 touches and half of them were contested.. He had more impact than Brayshaw did.
I hope we are already in Serongs ear about coming to the Hawks.

Go back to last years national draft when we took Jye Serong and the look on Longmuirs face. He looked as tho he had swallowed a rotten prawn .

We can hope like crazy someone like Caleb is on our radar but why would Caleb want to leave when they look as though they are launching into something pretty special.

If callow reminds me of anyone It's Levi casboult except Levi has the added bonus of being 200 cm .

He's already 94kg he wont get much bigger, agility and speed already an issue.

Not sure how strong his core is, maybe that's something that's lacking at this point? It shouldn't really affect his weaknesses (agility, etc) and should theoretically make him harder to push around. Otherwise as you and others point out, simply just getting bigger will probably exacerbate his issues.

It is possible to get stronger without getting bigger, but AFL S&C coaches don't really program that sort of training.

Callow's problem isn't strength, anyway. His problem is not being able to get separation on his opponent either by being quick laterally or in a straight line. This sort of thing is almost impossible to improve with training.

It's unfortunate for Callow, he would have been a good forward in the 90s, but he simply can't compete with 200cm forwards like the Kings, McKay and Lewis who are as agile at ground level and as quick off the mark as midfielders.

Has there been any explanation from the AFL/umpires since the game ended as to why that Newcombe tackle was paid a free against?
None.

You can bet that if it happened yesterday it would be getting some airtime.

The AFL don't really explain anything regarding umpires anymore. Can't have their decisions being declared as wrong

The Newcombe tackle being a free kick should really have attracted a bit of media attention, because that was so messed up honestly. Concerning for our great game that stuff like that has become a free kick. There is just no reason for it to be a free at all, it's seriously crazy.
It attracted quite a bit in the moment. Problem is that it was in the middle of a game that was played directly in between two other games on the Saturday of a long weekend. It just got completely lost and forgotten about by the end of the round.
