Watching Box Hill win helped with the shit mood Saturday morning. Bevo one of the first blokes I saw there too - looked pretty happy. Was thinking oh no here we go again at qtr time. The boys turned it around thank ****.

That's because nearly every result went out way had we taken care of business we would have been right in the hunt for top 2 but at worst we put a gap between us and the chasing pack in 3rd. Up till the last 30 seconds I was getting real angry at the pissed away opportunity but Sydney winning made me feel slightly better for some reason.

I feel like we did this last year towards the end of the year which cost us in the end so it's a bit of deja vu.

Finished 8th, just one more win and 1.6% and we would of finished 4th.

Let's not repeat that this year.

Mate the only one that was fit was Barrass. The other two didn't train. Gunston not at all and Nash in rehab. If u consider the season and not one game then anyone with any common sense would say that the selections were warranted.

I know ure going to say but if it was a final they would have played. Finals and grand finals are what the whole season is about loading up with injured players can burn u in a home and away game.

The season is a marathon you dont spend all ure tickets on game against the Bulldogs in June
this decision now though has made September a much tougher race since we are using those analogies. Top 2 is gone and it didn't have to be.

I miss those days when our biggest grumble was a shot after the siren that was called play-on.

It was a simpler time back then and we were just too stupid to see how good we had it.
I'm trying to lose weight, honest!

Ive been in a shit mood for 48 hours now.
me too because I think we've pissed our whole season away. Our only hope is we finish 3rd and can find a way to beat Sydney in week 1 of finals. We need to make a statement and drop Meek. We have to go for every game now and not rest players who are pretty much fully fit, and we need to learn to kick ****ing straight at goal.

Your certainty that we would have won if only the coach had chosen your preferred starting line-up is bemusing...

it's a factor, obviously the fact that Meek's goal kicking isn't AFL standard, and to a lesser extent the rest of the team's goal kicking. I acknowledge we dominated every key stat and typically we play that game again 10 times we probably win it 10 times. But we left it open and they took it from us.

Curious.

How does sitting third just after the halfway mark = pissing our whole season away.

Or am I wrong and we are sitting 13th instead?

The way you react, is as if everything from here on in is somehow predetermined and winning more games is a waste of time.

It will be very interesting to see how we go after the bye.

Season to date - we've seen McKenzie and Ward improve, Lewis now playing regular footy and day back in the side. Our list looking a little better than last year in this way.

We've got a couple of games into BMac, Bodie, Nairn and Perez.

We're half a win better than this time last season. There's also only one clear standout team. But our percentage is lousy and I think that tells a story of our lack of composure to put sides away, or to kick straight and everything that comes with that.

We seem to have had more injuries than usual. Day, Chol, Nash, Barass, Gunston have all missed chunks of the season.

I'm more optimistic now that I was at the start of the season. We typically do much better in the second half of a season than the front half.

Good summary.

That Footscray game was super frustrating and a bit of a kick in the nether regions but overall we are doing a lot more right than wrong.

What I'm hoping is that as our draw opens up towards the end of the year and we get to play some really poor teams like the Dons, Norf, etc we take the opportunity to win BIG.

If we can finish 3rd and play Swans at the SCG in a qualifying final I actually don't think that's a terrible outcome as I feel like we match up pretty well against Sydney.

The frustration from the Collingwood and Bulldogs games really stayed with me. Infuriating games, both of them.

Thankfully, I was spared the doggies anguish, out watching a friend's band with my phone off...

Watched a replay of the first half yesterday...I can imagine how horrible the second half must have been, we were in total control

Mate u need to calm down and focus. This game has caused an almighty dummy spit from you. The season isn't over its June a long way to go still.

It wasn't great.

The worst thing was being at the ground the whole thing had a certain feeling of inevitability about it. Every time we missed a shot it seems to make the next miss more likely somehow.

It must have been getting in their heads, AFL players don't kick 1.11 in a half, it's barely believable.

I agree with the summation except for the win BIG

There is very little recent history that this side does this. They stroll once they know the game is done. The ruthlessness of getting on top and grinding a lower side into a pulp like Sydney does, I can’t recall too many instances in recent years.

So the last part of the year will be about getting serious cohesion and trying some game plan tweaks should they be required in bigger games

With the full squad we have the capability to beat any team, irrespective whether home or away. Form and application will determine how far the finals run goes.
